Interesting that Constantine might be in it. My guess is he would fill a role similar to Batman - the human who brings the freaks together. Would it be cool or lame if they got Keanu back for the part? Or would it be BOTH?

I will say I think Constantine should have a cockney accent, not whatever that was in the TV series.

I'm fairly sure Constantine will be a Brit this time. Maybe Warner Bros. can finally get Tom Hardy into the DCEU this way.

The actor doesn't need to be English, they just need to do the right accent.

Or they could go really meta and get Misha Collins. ;)

Would it be too much to hope that they would pronounce his name properly this time? It's Constan-TINE, not Constant-TEEN.

They could really freak out hardcore continuity nerds and cast Matt Ryan.

"B-but that can't be! He's the Arrow-verse Constantine, he can't be movie-verse Constantine."

Not a big deal though. Sony's Spider-Man plans have also been in the gutter. TASM series cancelled, the Venom, Black Cat, and Sinister Six movies all cancelled. The deal with Marvel is the only thing they have to put a shot in the arm back into their IP.

Well, I don't put much stock in those expanded-universe plans falling through, because they felt like overreaching to begin with. Like most studios, Sony was trying to force a Marvel-like expanded universe into existence without really having a lot to base it on. It fell through because there wasn't really much of anything there to begin with. The same has happened with several other studios' cinematic-universe plans, and it's just the sort of thing one would expect to happen with such tentative, poorly grounded proposals.

Anyway, what I've heard is that Sony does still have a Drew Goddard-scripted Sinister Six film in development, and possibly other spinoffs as well. They just postponed them so they could fit them into the revised MCU-Spidey plan.

Also, the timing of the information is amusing. Director leaves Gambit under Fox and goes to helm JL Dark under Warner Bros. Like he had this planned out for weeks now.

Of course he did. It's not like the public hears about these decisions the instant they're made. Business matters are generally kept confidential until the contracts are signed.

Yeah, Sony especially explored several options for cinematic universes. I guess we all remember the rumors of the proposed "Ghostbusters" cinematic universe, and let's also not forget Sony actually looked into .

In other news, the Rogues of Central City will be the villains in the Flash movie.

That sounds cool, but I really hope that doesn't mean they'll be forcing The Flash to kill off its versions of the characters like Arrow had to kill its Suicide Squad. If the Flash (or Legends of Tomorrow) had to permanently kill off Captain Cold, Trickster or Heatwave because of the movie that would be pretty infuriating and would probably ruin the movie for me (I just couldn't get into a movie that ruins my favorite current TV show). Hopefully that won't happen, but after Arrow had to kill off the Suicide Squad, I'm paranoid. Heck, I'm shocked WB hasn't made CW cancel the Flash, so until something happens its going to be a couple years of waiting to see if the DCEU screws over the superior Flashverse any more then it already has.

My biggest issue with the rumor about the Rogues as the villains in the Flash movie is just the number of characters they have listed. That is a lot of characters, and some movies struggle to handle a team of just 3 or 4 heroes.

The news item doesn't actually specify what Rogues will be in the movie. It just says the Rogues are the rumored villains, then says "In the comics, the team is currently..." etc. So the members it lists are the ones in the current comics. It's likely the movie's team will be smaller, if the rumor is correct at all.

Oh, the story I read on IGN just listed those characters without specifying they were from the comics, so I thought they were saying they were the rumored villains for the movie.

Likely not, since some of the Rogues feature on Legends of Tomorrow. The way DC's Embargo works never made sense to me. With Waller and the the Suicide Squad on Arrow, I don't know why they didn't keep it. Granted, Arrow has been pirating villains, organizations and plots from other DC IPs to keep itself a float, but the SS was never that big a deal. The Flash TV series has been really good, and his cast of characters and villains is apart of that. If WB is ok with having two Flashes, both named Barry Allen (which is surprising), then I wager his rogues are safe to continue their crime sprees.

Yeah, you're probably right. I'm just a bit paranoid with DC. I've been hearing about their weird embargo policies effecting shows all the way back to Timm's Justice League cartoon, and after Arrow had to kill their SS I'm half convinced that things will be randomly banned at any moment.

With Timm's JL it was because of the TT and "The Batman" show on the WB using the same characters. Why the embargo existed, I have no idea. Since on the TT and JL at least, the characters were voiced by the same VAs. Marvel allegedly has a similar thing regarding the X-Men and the FF. The only characters immune to the embargo there are Deadpool and Wolverine. Since both have appearances on the recent Marvel animated shows (Avengers Assemble, GOTG, and Ultimate Spider-Man), and Wolverine showing up several times on Earth's Mightiest Heroes. But long time Avengers and Mutants like Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch have been MIA on Earth's Mightiest Heroes and Avengers Assemble.

I don't get it. It can't be a matter of rights since WB and Disney own these characters and the channels they appear on. Maybe it's just the agendas they want to push.

I really don't think people would have been confused by Nightwing showing up in Justice League while a totally different Robin appeared on TT, but corporations always assume viewers are stupid (and I think even kids wouldn't have been confused by stuff like Nightwing/Robin). But, from what I remember Timm also wasn't allowed to use Ted Kord/Blue Beetle, for reasons that weren't explained.

Anyway, hopefully embargo's won't be as big a thing anymore, since the general audience for superhero things might actually get treated as smart enough to understand that there can be several versions of the same character at once.
