Warner bros announce superhero films through 2020

I guess I'm just too literal-minded to think of "always" as a word that can be used in that way. Or just too old, since I was a high school senior when The Dark Knight Returns came out, so the Batman I grew up with was the Batman played by Adam West and Olan Soule.
In the age of Trump, where he often speaks in hyperbole, and extremism where both ends make absolute judgments in "the other", all of us should actually NOT expect "always" to mean "always" unless someone specifically says that is what they mean....

Sink down to their level instead of education? That sounds pretty defeatest and explains the education system. They should learn that words have meaning instead.

Just saw a part of this video, where he claims that Geoff Johns stepping out of Chief Creative Officer is going to allow him to be like Greg Berlanti, and help develop a number of movies & TV shows...like the Green Lantern Corps is supposed to be his baby... plus he has Titans & Doom Patrol

What do YOU think? Is that spin -- or legit?

it sounds like something i would LIKE to have happened...

Also, interesting they have Geoff Johns and Kevin Feige in an interview togeher...it seems like they know each other fairly well,. Johns admires what Feige has done, and it seems like he would like to model DC media somewhat like them... it's obvious both have a love of comics, and want to bring it to life in an enjoyable way. The thing is Feige was able to accomplish it, but Johns has been sabotaged behind the scenes.

I would like to think it's true, the one thing DC has needed is one person to keep an eye on the creative side of things, and Geoff Johns is the perfect man for the job.

Johns' previous job as CCO meant that he was the "Kevin Feige of DC"; he stepped down from that position, though, in order to return to a less administrative role as an actual creator of content, starting with the DCU-exclusive series Stargirl.

Regarding Geoff Johns

He worked directly with the directors of Auqaman and Wonder Woman...and many fans feel they are better than Zack Snyder led movies. I feel like because Johns did NOT have that relationship with Snyder the role of CCO was frustrating to Johns.

Also... What is the final count for DCFU movies until 2020? Shazam in 2019, Wonder Woman in 2020...any others for sure? Where does Green Lantern stand?

When is Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) coming out? That's the only other movie that seems to definitely be happening.

February 7th, 2020.

Also, Cyborg, Wonder Woman 1984 and Green Lantern Corps have 2020 release dates scheduled as well:
April 3, 2020 for Cyborg
June 5, 2020 for Wonder Woman 1984
July 24, 2020 for Green Lantern Corps

^ Just because we're not hearing about those films' development processes doesn't mean that they're not being worked on; it just means we aren't hearing much about them at the current time.

Aside from "Justice League", how was Johns sabotaged? From my view, I think Zack Snyder was sabotaged a lot worse, thanks to WB's meddling in the 2017 movie.

I'm not one of those fans and I have a deep contempt for this kind of thinking. I have contempt for those who will not tolerate a comic book movie challenging the notions of how we view this society and ourselves. I also have a deep contempt for those who think all comic book movies should follow a certain "formula". This is lack of imagination of the worst kind. And yet, not only do today's fandom tolerate it, they demand it.

I don't know if I'd call the situation with Justice League, "sabotage" or "meddling", the guy backed out after his daughter committed suicide. At point it was either postpone production until he felt up to working on it, or bring in a new director and I think they made the right call there.
I think you are looking for very different things from these movies than most other people. I know I'm probably different from a lot of people, but these kind of superhero movies are the last movies I want that kind of stuff from.
I don't think I've seen anyone arguing that they want every one of these movie to follow a "formula", they just don't want what we got from things like JL and DoJ.

Oh sure they probably are being worked on in some capacity, I just meant that I would have expected to have heard more announcements for GLC and Cyborg if they were going to be coming out in less than 2 years.

Warner Bros. was willing to postpone Justice League's release and give him the time he needed to heal and then return to production on the film, but Synder told them not to.

Everything I read was the opposite. As usual.

It was fast tracked (hence the rushed special effects) because of the upcoming merger with AT&T and the execs at WB that wanted their end of year bonus (among other things thay were selfish instead of creatively driven) hinged on bringing out JL asap.

True, they did not delay the release date, though that might also have been because of licencing deals depending on the date of release.

What's more striking is the mandate of a 2-hour runtime, which most certainly had a negative effect on the movie's quality. I still can't see the reasoning behind that one.

From The Hollywood Reporter's report on Snyder stepping down:
One of the first things the studio floated was the possibility of pushing back the release date of the movie, but the Snyders decided against that.

Every report I read was WB refused to push the movie back as well.

I kept hearing the same story regarding bonuses...

WB CEO Kevin Tsujihara and President Toby Emmerich wanted to preserve the bonuses they would be paid before the huge $85 billion dollar deal between Time Warner and AT&T, went through, and were worried that “if they pushed the movie, then their bonuses would have been pushed to the following year and they might not still be at the studio.”

At this rate we'll probably never find out either way but...

It was their stupid call to let Whedon (whom I'm generally a big fan of) butcher the movie with his re-shoots and editing. Also the ridiculous short time limit was beyond moronic. TBF the biggest idiot ideas from WB were to agree to any timetable (I presume set by Snyder) to have BvS follow Mos and to have Justice League so early into the birth of the DCEU/DC Worlds.

Honestly, I don't get the negative reactions to Justice League. It was imperfect, but it's by far my favorite DCEU movie other than Wonder Woman (haven't seen Aquaman yet). And for me, the best parts are the ones that were probably Whedon's. In my opinion, Whedon saved the film.
