That is not the line up I was expecting at all, I was at least expecting to see Catwoman and/or Poison Ivy since they are probably the two other women most associated with Harley. Have they said yet if the villain is a man or women?
He wants to return to actually writing stuff, including a bunch of new comics, as well as the screenplay for "Green Lantern Corps". I guess this means Goyer's script was not to WB's liking.
Reminds me of a bit from the old Canadian sitcom Made in Canada. (It was about a bunch of unscrupulous Canadian TV producers.)
"I'm going to sell the studio and go back to my first love."
"Building low-income housing?"
"No! Directing movies."
As for David Goyer, I have mixed feelings about him. On one hand, Batman Begins, Blade, & Blade II are beyond reproach. On the other hand, I've started to suspect that he was the source of all of the suspect philosophy in The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, Man of Steel, & Batman v. Superman. He is, after all, the only common element between all 4 scripts.
The Trevor thing is a bit of a mystery, since the way his death still affects Diana in Justice League suggests it wasn't undone in the intervening years (thankfully, since I'm not sure how you do that without cheapening it).
I still think the best solution is to not explain the origins of Pine's new character at all. He's not related to Steve Trevor or anything like that. Just have Diana look at him and say, "If you live long enough, you end up seeing the same faces over & over."
Dammit, what's keeping them from casting a new Catwoman? I want to see if WB has the balls to realize they need an actress in her late 30s so it won't look like Batman is a dirty old man.
Were it not for her previous botched attempt at the character, I feel like Halle Berry would be a good age fit for Catwoman opposite Ben Affleck's Batman. If not her, then I'm rooting for Eliza Dushku. (A decade ago, I was hoping that Raimi would cast her as the Black Cat in Spider-Man 4. Same dif'! )
I'm still confused as to why they're doing Birds of Prey as the Harley Quinn follow-up project instead of Gotham City Sirens. And I really, really want to see the new DCEU version of Poison Ivy. I saw some fan art with Megan Fox in the role which actually looked decent. (And it takes a lot for me to say anything good about Megan Fox.)

Hmm, she's 37. That's just about the right age. Anything below that and it would look weird next to Affleck's Bruce, since he and Selina have always been close in age.

The thing is, all of Batman's villains would have to be aged up if he's been dealing with them for about 20 years. I don't think WB really thought it through with their older Batman idea. Jared Leto IS the right age, as he's the same age as Affleck but looks younger. But this age up to their 40s would have to go to all the other Rogues as well, unless they say that Ivy being part plant slowed her aging or something.
Just because Batman has been operating for 40 years doesn't mean all of his Rogues have been around that entire time. Some of them might be newer on the scene, like Poison Ivy.
BTW, I didn't realize how old Jared Leto was. He looks great for his age! (I'd previously assumed that he was much younger than Affleck, thus why my head-cannon figured that he was probably Jason Todd and had gone insane and become the Joker after killing the original Joker or something.)
There are probably all sorts of market calculations and focus-group tests and meetings and negotiations and such that go into those decisions. Or maybe it's just that the team developing BoP came up with a better proposal or outline, so they decided to go with that one.
You mean the guy who hired Whedon to save Snyder's shitty movie? Since Whedon succeeded in making a movie better then anything Snyder has ever done (which was still only ok in the end, but that's a big improvement over Snyder's work), Johns probably got to choose whatever job he wanted for doing as much as humanly possible to save that train wreck.
The DC Extended Universe has officially named itself Worlds of DC, according to Heroic Hollywood. Warner Bros. made the announcement at their San Diego Comic-Con panel in Hall H on Saturday.
So they're going backwards and reverting to the shitty system from the pre X-Men days. Well, whatever. They're never going to beat the MCU anyway, so I suppose a few good movies not being as good as they could be because of the lack of a coherent universe is better then what DC had been doing.
The Shazam trailer is fun. I know absolutely nothing about the character beyond the very basic set-up (i.e. kid who can transform into an adult superhero), but the trailer was engaging enough to keep me interested. I particularly like how Billy doesn't magically know how to use all of us super powers at once and has to clumsily learn them through trial and error as any child would.
The Aquaman trailer is gorgeous but I agree with Christopher that it looks rather by-the-numbers. I still haven't watched Justice League so I don't have any preconceptions about Jason Momoa's performance as Arthur..
