Warhammer 40k vs Star Trek

I think the Imperium of Man would defeat the Federation. They are thoroughly militaristic, xenophobic, and are willing to destroy worlds. Their ships are massive and travel around in battle fleets.

I'm not buying the "Imperium has better tech" side of things. If anything, Starfleet is nearer the level humanity was at during the Golden (later called Dark) Age of Technology in the WH40K setting.

Agreed. And speed isn't everything. Some of the fastest (non jump non-Tardis) ships I've seen were from the Stargate franchise.
Destiny crossed from Galaxy to galaxy--yet the Earthers abord were still using slug throwers and old zat guns and such.

I'd actually put Trek near the top of all on screen tech. Travel at warp--which would likely disrupt any daemons within either the trek or Warhammer universe--meant that the Feds had to keep looking at new tech for higher warp factors. Discover hyperspace too early--or use it for too long--and you get stagnant.

Life in the Imperium of Man is basically a constant frenzy of bloodlust. Literally nothing but fighting, sometimes even berserk-erly so. Imagine an entire civilization acting like the Red Lantern Corps, and you have the Imperium. It is, in a word, Hell.

That said, the Federation could probably use that against them. An enemy that is constantly consumed by rage is bound to slip up sometimes...

One could say the Mirror univers is between the standard Trek universe and the Imperium. A plague across the multiverse is spreading and all of fictions heros need to stop it before it reaches here.
