Spoilers WandaVision discussion thread

If it's the same book, then all the hoops you're talking about for jumping through to show the connection and overlap between the two teams, is just stuff that is happening in the same book.

All-New All-Different Avengers is Champions Vol 1.

Except it isn't.

Does it matter either way? The MCU has a history of cherry-picking and repurposing the source material in whatever way suits the stories they want to tell. They'll pick whatever group name they think sounds cool, and populate it with whatever characters they want to work with, regardless of what the comics did.

Absolutely true. And also exactly why I expect they'd use the Young Avengers name even if it were all Champions characters - 'Avengers' branding sells more merch.

Of course from what we know so far, they seem to be leaning more YA anyway. Cassie Lang, Kate Bishop, and Billy and Tommy are all already confirmed versus only Kamala Khan from the Champions' side. Not to mention the possible pitfalls of trying to adapt some of the other Champions. Is Sony even willing to do live action Miles Morales yet, and would he make any sense while Peter Parker is still so young? Is Marvel really going to jump straight to Sam Alexander, teenage Nova, when we haven't even had the slightest hint of an adult Nova yet? And, of course, the already mentioned if Vision doesn't come back to life by the end of this show, how would Viv Vision exist?

I kinda wonder whether this version of Pietro wasn't created from one of the residents of the town Wanda took over. Like she subconsciously took some guy, crafted Pietro's memories and powers onto him and gave him that stereotypical "wacky sitcom relative" persona.
Given the way he was pumping Wanda for information, I think he's some kind of plant or spy.

Ooooh! That's a good theory! There was some talk by Monica and her group in the episode that Hayward knows more about the situation than he lets on...

We still don't know what happened to the guy in the isolation/beekeeper suit.
I think people are forgetting that Brie Larson was announced as Captain Marvel well over two years before her movie came out, and at least a year before she started filming. Mahershala Ali was announced as Blade over a year ago and we don't even have a release date for that one yet. It is totally conceivable, especially for Marvel, to plan this far in advance.

And, sure, the news of Evan Peters leaked. But you want to know what news didn't leak from Disney plus? Baby Yoda and...

Luke Skywalker.

So, if Marvel has already found its Reed Richards, and wants to surprise the fans with an early reveal, I think it's something that they could easily pull off and have fun doing it.
That's a fair point, I'm still in shock they managed to keep Luke's appearance and Mark Hamill's involvement in the Mandalorian finale quiet.

One thing I'm pretty sure of: Going through/being in the Hex did not give Monica her as-yet unmanifested Spectrum powers (which means nobody else in town, including Darcy, will get powers themselves). She already had them and knows she has them, and deliberately chose not to correct Darcy when she brought up the blood work. Her utter lack of self-concern/quick deflection every time her health has been brought up points to it. She's saving the reveal for when it really counts - if not in the series finale, then the next time Carol Danvers comes to Earth.

Considering one of the writers (Megan McDonnell) is also writing Captain Marvel 2, wanna take bets that how Monica really got her powers is also why her mother Maria died of cancer? And why she's now clearly holding a grudge against Carol?
Interesting idea. If she doesn't have them by the end of WandaVision, I fully expect her to have them by the end of Capt. Marvel 2.

They're also introducing Ironheart in one of the upcoming movies. No matter who's on the team, I fully expect it to be called Young Avengers.
I'm expecting the line up to be:
  • Wiccan (Billy Maximoff)
  • Speed (Tommy Maximoff)
  • Stature (Cassie Lang)
  • Ms. Marvel (Kamala Kahn)
  • Miss America (America Chavez)
  • Ironheart (Riri Williams)
I think there have been rumors that The Falcon & The Winter Solider will introduce Eli Bradley/Patriot, so he's a possibility, and I wouldn't be surprised if they introduced a deaged Loki too. Those two I'm not as confident in though.

Right, nearly forgot about Ironheart. But Kate Bishop is also confirmed. I'm expecting her and Kamala will probably be joint team leaders.

Wasn't America Chavez more of a stand-alone character? I know she was part of the YA at some point, but I thought it was a more temporary thing.

Crap, I can't believe I forgot about Kate Bishop.
According to the Marvel Wiki she was in all but two issues of the Gillen/McKelvie Young Avengers series, and the two she wasn't in only focused on two or three characters, not the whole cast.

My wife and I just saw the first 5 episodes and we loved It. The acting of Olsen and Bettany is great! I already loved the acting of Olsen in the Avengers movie, but Bettany is also really good.

Except it isn't.

Last issue of All-New Avengers they said next month we are going to be the Champions, and the first few months of champions they were still printing letters from All-New Avengers.

It was physically the same book, even if they were telling a different story.

Like how New Mutants became X-Force, and then X-Statix, or Batman and the Outsiders became the Adventures of the Outsiders, or Journey into Mystery became The Mighty Thor, and then Back to Journey into Mystery Briefly while Thor was "Dead" because of Heroes Reborn, and then back to the Mighty Thor again when they found the Odinson in Franklin Richard's Volleyball, and Then back to Journey into mystery when Teen Loki took over form Thor, and Sif got a year in the driving seat too, before it was back to The Mighty Thor.

We're headed to the '00s. The lipstick is doomed.

Weren't we already in the 00s? This episode seemed very "Malcolm in the Middle" to me, with Billy and Tommy talking to the camera, the weird flashbacks/manatee gags and Pietro being a stand-in for Francis?
Plus Agnes' "classy" stretch pants with the fake jewels glued to her butt, I think that was a 00s fashion.
Though it is odd that they seem to have skipped over the 1990s entirely...

Herb + (ert) Wyndham = The High Evolutionary?
Well Pietro did mention Shangri-La.;)

Overall an excellent episode. In many ways it went in some directions I didn't expect and I like it a lot for that. Very much looking forward to how they conclude the final 3 episode act.

And yeah:
#SaveDarcy

I'd rather have Champions than Young Avengers.

And I don't want Iron Lad at all...
If they do the Champions that means they would have to somehow introduce Hercules...:D (Of course the original Defenders had Doctor Strange, The Valkyrie, and the Silver Surfer, so who knows...:wtf:;))
