Voyages of Imagination: your thoughts?

If Pocket can't make the numbers work to justify updating other non-fiction reference books like the Encyclopedia or the Chronology, I find it unlikely that they could make the numbers work on an updated and expanded Voyages.

With all the talent out there, some fan should be able to make a site for collecting update pages. Ideally, these would look exactly like/be formatted exactly like the pages in the book. Authors would submit the info, the person in charge would format it and every year release a PDF update. When printed the PDF would be the same size as the pages in VoI. Ta-da! Free updates that you can slip into the back of the actual book.

I agree with everone else's comments. This is an excellent reference volume. I'd taken about a ten-year hiatus from Star Trek reading and only just recently got started again on my Kindle. This is an excellent work for anyone, but especially for those like myself that are trying to play catchup, realize we'll never be able to read everything and want some help picking the best and the brightest.

I too would love to see some sort of annual or bi-annual update.

I absolutely loved it. It was great getting extra information on some books and reading the authors' thoughts. If anything, I wish it could have been expanded, but then it would've been the size of two phone books. You won't be getting information on any books released in the last 3 years or so, but it's a great resource for everything before that.

I'm totally ok with not having information on the past three or four years of Treklit. I still have numbered novels sitting on my shelf that I haven't cracked yet.

I haven't checked out very many authors' sites, but Christopher (Bennett) has a link to his with every post and he goes into great detail on his works. Give yourself plenty of time, though; he is relentless in his detail.

(In all seriousness, that's a good thing, Christopher, lest you think I was being my usual sarcastic self, pardner...)

Another :thumbsup: for this book. Even if I've read the books, it's still nice to be able to read reminders and see where they go in the timeline and such. Would be great if they could update it every few years.

I go there too much! Instead of just deciding everything I want to put on my wish list, I should be spending more time actually reading them!
