Voyager Villains

The Overlord

Fleet Captain
Fleet Captain
Who is your favorite Voyager villain? Who is your least favorite Voyager villain? Who is the most sympathetic Voyager villain? Who is the most evil Voyager villain?

Seska was definitely entertaining, if not likeable.

Voyager is not the show that sticks out because of its villains.

The Hirogen were impressive.
I don't want to donate my organs to the Vidiians.

Arturis was my favourite (as well as the most sympathetic). He had cause to be appalled by Janeway's actions. I think she also believe he had a point because it's in the next episode that she has a breakdown. I also like Ray Wise as an actor

Notable mentions for the Devore (sexy space Nazi's)

And the Srivani (fun episode)

Least favourite is probably the Vidians. Never cared for them

Most evil villain? Maybe Burke from Equinox (Ransom clearly feels remorse)

I found the Vidiians terrifying. Their appearance wasn't at all pleasant but what I actually found to be the worst was how the phage struck them and their reaction to dealing with it - what they had become. I wasn't a big fan of Seska. I can't help but agree with "I hate that the character's entire motivation appears to be 'twirl invisible girlstache, commit evil...'" At the same time, I don't agree with the author's fervent hatred of her. She just goddamn won't go away for a while there and then there's the situation with Chakotay and the baby. Awkward and what-the-hell-seriously-just-happened.

The Kazon were rather... annoying. They didn't seem very intimidating but they were certainly persistent. The Hirogen looked fiercer at least. The Borg... well, the Borg... their actions are anathema to me.

Probably the Borg Queen. Seeing her in the drones 'Eden' really gave her that epic, serpentine, evil vibe.

I also enjoyed her dialogues with Seven and Janeway, a truly fascinating character. How she views the collective, actually improving races is interesting [particularly her arguments of the Collective instantly being able to stop war/hunger/mass destruction while eliminating racism/sexism instantly] and gives her a core cause far stronger than most others.

I've often dreamt of [safely] getting into a philosophical argument with her on the concept of 'perfection' and the role of the Collective in general.

I liked the Hirogen. They should have dove in deeper into the whole hunter focused lifestyle. I would say that they were the most original species that Voyager had.

The Vidiians were a close second. They were kinda like the Borg (they assimilate parts of you) but they had their own terrifying twist.

The Borg were great too. The Yin to Starfleet's Yang. It was nice seeing the center of the classic Next Gen menace.

The Borg Queen. I love that she's the all-powerful embodiment of this unstoppable force... and yet Janeway gets under her skin to the point she's reduced to petty evil scheming in her throne room.

My favorite villain is the gentleman you find at this site:

The one and only Henry Starling!

Two other favorites are Culluh and Seska. A lovely couple!

I also like The Clown in "The Thaw". Charming indeed!

I also have some favorites from the book "The Black Shore":
The Ryol. They made the Borg look like well-behaved schoolchildren.

Augris from "Resistance" was also a charming person.

An episode I like more with each viewing (having started from a position of despising it)

He also gets my sympathy. Great ending

Huh, I totally despise The Thaw and the clown in The Thaw.

hux, how many viewings do you recommend to raise my opinion?

2-3 days straight should be enough. With your eyes propped open ala Clockwork Orange.

I liked the Clown, the Thaw is one of the Voyager episodes I really enjoy.

Also liked the Kashyk, the Space Nazi fro Counterpoint, though his defeat came about as a bit to easy in the end.

Wish we had seen more of the Krenim.

Aside from that, yeah the villians of Voyager were kinda pale.

I'm gonna go with the Borg. I know everyone got sick of them but I never did.

Good one on the Henry Starling though Lynx, my most rewatched VOY ep(s).

I'm with you on that. I always lost coming across the numerous posts about how great that episode/character was (and I enjoy Michael McKean's other work).

Species 8472. They gave the Borg a run for their money.

I don't know how I forgot about them. They are definitely the most intriguing villains for me since they are so foreign from most other species we've seen. I will also say that I love the Borg, but I can't stand the Borg queen.

OMG YES! Species 8472. I still remember the first time I saw it crawling up Voyagers hull IN SPACE!! I was like omfg.. great moment.

I do consider them ruined by the starfleet planet episode though :(

But lets just forget that and remember how utterly different and alien they are, and how dangerous.

Ditto.

I'd have been fine with thrice as much Borg*.

*Just let me choose the episodes that got replaced, is all.
