Voyager memories

I am glad I didn't see Nemesis first or it may have convinced me not to watch the series anymore. Plus what the hell is wrong with whoever was in charge of casting that week? The show had plenty of good child actors but the little girl in that episode was just awful. I've seen better acting in school plays.

I have to disagree here.

Personally I think that the episode "Nemesis" was a very good episode. In fact, it is one of the few season 4-7 episodes of Voyager I really like (the others are the "Equinox" episodes and that episode with the fast rotating planet "Blink Of An Eye".

I like "Nemesis" because it's a good Chakotay episode and with some interesting twists and turns. I also like the scenario with the conflict on the planet and the dilemma about who was right and who was wrong.

As for the girl, I don't find her worse than Worf's son or Naomi.

There's no accounting for taste.

I remember just starting to watch TNG when Voyager came along. Watched most of it on VHS.

I even remember the article in the last issue of the now defunct Today paper which described B'elanna as the Voyager pin-up. I still have the article somewhere.

It's too bad that they decided to make her the resident (half) klingon. She didn't get the fangs, though. I guess she got her teeth from her human side.

Indeed, though the Klingon teeth did make a guest appearance in Faces.

True, but that's only because the Vidian did a Kirk-maneuver on her (separated her into two different personalities).

Hey! Naomi is a sweetheart.

Naomi was great.

I just saw Faces and the Durst thing still disturbs me. btw, if Paris was slotted to be axed off the show you know Dr. ugly would have taken his face. Hmm...maybe they should have. shock value and Robbie could have directed a lot more.

In honor of the 20th anniversary, what are some memories you have thanks to the show?
The greatest Trek Memory I will ever experience. Capt. Janeway's line "Set a course.. for home" is the dearest line in Trek to me, and Capt. Janeway the most profound Trek character for me. No matter how many times I watch Caretaker and Endgame (many many) I am moved to tears. And many times I've thought to myself "I wish I could have been on Voyager's bridge when she said this."

I'd only been to one convention and thought, wow, great! So this is a Trek convention! Awesome! Though never considered going to another.

My friend called and said "Janeway is going to be at the LV convention. You HAVE to go with me." And that is how I went to my second convention.

During Spiner's time on the main stage she whispered to me "Kate Mulgrew is on next. You should get in line to ask her a question."

Thank goodness the microphones were in the dark on each side of the stage because I was struggling with overwhelming emotion from fear of speaking in public and speaking to someone who had created a character that was so impactful on my life.

When my turn came I shakily said, "As Janeway you ended the Voyager premier episode "Caretaker" and the final Voyager episode "Endgame" with the same five words.. "Set a course.. for home".... with profound quiet dept.

"Will you permit me -- right now -- to stand here and pretend I am also on Voyager's bridge and have you say those five words to all 6,000 of us here?"

She replied: "I'd be delighted. But only if you come down here", pointing to the front of the stage.

Moving myself out of the dark was very difficult.

Standing at the foot of that huge stage, looking up at her, she again became Capt. Janeway. Raising her arm toward the lights, looking off into space, we quieted and she said "There it is. I remember."

And in her best Janeway voice:

"Set a course... for home."

And just for a split second I was on Voyager's bridge with my captain.

Most people say that Threshold is the worst Voyager episode, but I think Nemesis is at least as bad if not worse still and Threshold has the additional value of being entertaining, Nemesis is just boring.

I cannot begin to describe how envious I am of you!

I completely agree with you. Tom as a mutant was at least funny. "Here lies Thomas Eugene Paris: Beloved Mutant:lol:

I punked out. I was in a small room with maybe 30 people and all I could muster was, "thank you. you are a gracious hostess." I'm writing a book and one of the chapters has the whole story of that experience in it but even with my gem of an experience that still bugs me. acting mute all night  I was shy in those days. now, try to shut me up around her.

oh, and from my point of view Threshold wasn't the worst. it entertained.

The tongue dropping was surprising.

It was horrifying, camp, disgusting and really quite a shock.

All great stuff for Trek!

It reminds me of the old The Outer Limits series (the one in Black and white). They had their monster of the week. It was often a guy who was the victim of an experiment or some alien creature.

I remember making fun of my brother buying a Voyager calendar because I know the only reason he did was to have Seven of Nine's boobs on the wall.

"Her" means Kate Mulgrew, right? And you are writing a Book? And one of the chapters will be about an encounter you had with her in room with maybe 30 people?

It sounds lovely. I would enjoy hearing a bit more detail about this if you're willing.

It was.... unexpected, overwhelming, ... and magical, if I may use such a silly word.

That was you?! thank you for your bravery. it was a wonderful question.
You were there? Somehow you being there and meeting you here adds something new to that Memory for me.

:)

Faces was one of my favorite episodes early on. I loved the aspect of splitting B'elanna in two.
