Voyager is the worst series.....Baloney!

Hey, Star Trek is supposed to be about exploration and diplomacy, not sitting around a station bickering. Truth hurts sometimes.

Honest? Yes. But a 'truth' is probably exaggerating things.

And whilst we're on the topic of exageration: hyperbole for comic effect. It's a thing.

Just for the record, the worst series was, I gotta say, DS9. Look, I'm sorry, any DS9 fans out there, I swear I mean no offense, but it is the one series that I just plain did not like. I mean, to me it's not really even Star Trek: it's a soap opera disguised as Star Trek..
I would have agreed with you in the beginning because Nana Visitor did start out as a soap actress and I thought it showed in her acting. But over time, the show did grow on me in spite of her. It did take a while to find its footing, but got a lot better after the Defiant was introduced and the whole war with the Dominion, Breen, Cardassians, etc. Not many war soaps out there. "Trials and Tribble-ations" remains one of the very best post-TOS episodes.

I have to admit that DS9 is probably my least favorite Star Trek series. While it did have some terrific characters and some captivating story arcs, there were too many "soap opera" episodes. I found myself frequently bored, taking stock of what I'm watching and half thinking to myself "do I abandon this, or keep watching?" Never happened to me in any other Star Trek series.

Still, DS9 is an essential part of the Star Trek universe. And as a captain, I think Avery Brooks did a terrific job. Very strong character. I truly like the way he evolved.

It was primarily the obvious that I got hung up about with DS9. I like my trekking .. trekking.

What are u talkin' about?! They did a lot of trekking in DS9. Remember the trips to the gamma quadrant?

You mean the time they explored a planet with sentient holograms? That trek?

Or maybe taking a benevolent leader being left behind due to dying but coming back?

There was some trekking there ;)

Shadowplay is one of my favorite early ds9 episodes, but that other one was cruel. I don't see how Bajorans could trust their Emissary after that escapade. I can just picture Sisko trying to explain that to the Elders, or whatever they're called.

But didn't it seem to anyone (besides me) that DS9 became more about war and politics after a certain point? How many times did they get just a purely exploratory mission in the GQ?

It was sort of a joke, BUT...I'd be willing to wager that Sisko went on more exploration missions in his first two seasons than Picard on his first two seasons.

I think there was an interesting blend of stories. While the later ones became that, it felt like a natural progression of the story.

I have a preference for that whole exploring and moving on type of adventure.

I always joked that for people with the core mission of 'seeking new life' and 'boldly going where no one has gone before,' Kirk and Picard spend a lot of time visiting Starbase's/Fed colonies, and playing chauffeur for politicians.

It's also why I was thrilled when the new movies depicted the five-year mission as the crew being near-totally alone in unknown space, dealing with mostly non-Fed aliens (and the crew developing a bit of cabin fever as a result.) Yay for showing and not telling!

DIPLOMATIC ACTIONS WOULD REQUIRE TO HOST DIPLOMATIC MEETINGS OF INTEREST TO THE DIPLOMATS WISHES TO SEE AS LONG AS FEDERATION SECURITY IS DANGER AND SOME WOULD WORK ON STATIONS AS REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE FOR THE STARSHIPS AND PEACE MISSION PLANNING AND STARSHIPS BUILD UP FOR ANY ACTIONS THAT ARISES
