Re: Schematics
Hello!
I'm new to the Trek BBS forum, having following a link here form the L-CARS blueprints site.
Love those drawings, Vance.
I can only pencil-draw, and I have very little training in mechanical drawing. (Just basic pencil drawings in Jr. High)
I was wondering if anybody ever explored the angle of de-evolving the Constitution-class of Federation starships. I regsitered recently at Memory Alpha and brought up some ideas there. That site is very rigidly linked to canon, though. What I'm talking about is a "missing link" between the NX-01 "Akiraprise" and Capt. Pike's NCC-1701 Entperprise. Actually, there might be two or three missing links in there, since Archer's ship was supposedly decommissioned in 2161 and Pike visited Talos IV around 2254, according to Memory Alpha. Memory Alpha may have inadvertently provided the "missing link", in the form of an original "final" drawing made by Matt Jefferies:

This drawing was the "final" rough sketch on which the "original" Enterprise was to be based. I'm assuming that the original U.S.S. Constitution pre-dated Pike's Enterprise by decades. (This isn't canon, but there's no canon evidence against it, either.) Undoubtedly, the technology had to evolve before later subclasses of the Constitution-class began to exhibit the appearance and abilities of Pike's/Kirk's vessel. I posted some of my concerns under the pen name "Ol' Horta Face" on the Talk Page attached to Memory Alpha's article on the Constitution-class.
I would imagine just about anyone here has vastly superior drawing ability over me. Does this sound interesting to any of you?
