Thank goodness, no Borg!
While it never made much sense to me, that theory apparently originated with the Great Bird himself, according to Michael and Denise Okuda in their Star Trek Chronology, revised 1996, page 23: "Following production of 'Q Who?' (TNG), Gene Roddenberry half jokingly speculated that the planet encountered by Voyager [VI] might have been the Borg homeworld."Hell, some felt that V'GER ended up on a Borg planet and it was the Borg that remodeled it and sent it back out into the Universe to travel and evolve.
You are not wrong. According to Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens in a TrekMovie.com interview dated 22 September 2007: "Well we pitched this story to have Alice Krige back as a Starfleet medical technician who made contact with the Borg from Season 2 [ENT: 'Regeneration'] and we would see the birth of the Borg Queen."Correct me if I'm wrong, I can't remember the source, but wasn't there a proposed Season 5 Enterprise story where Alice Krige was going to play a Starfleet scientist/medical officer that was going to be the first Borg Queen?

Probably because the origin of the Borg has already been told in the litverse (the Destiny trilogy) and even though that's not canon, we really don't want to see all of that suddenly invalidated.
Nothing involving the Borg at this point sound like very good ideas. Both are really bad ideas.
Besides, not only do we already know that Control cannot logically be the origin of the Borg, for at least two reasons:
- the Borg have already been in existence for thousands of years by the time we first meet them
- Control's mission is to destroy all sentient life; the Borg are out to assimilate (not destroy)
...but in all of the flash-forwards that DSC has shown us, Control is never seen assimilating anyone or anything. There is absolutely nothing indicative of the Borg in any of those future scenes.
I wouldn't worry about the AI being the origin of the Borg unless it turns out that that is what we're given. Until then, why fret and fuss over it?
It's a good thing this show doesn't treat time travel, and travel across insane distances really casually.Besides, not only do we already know that Control cannot logically be the origin of the Borg, for at least two reasons:

Read Destiny, the novel trilogy about the Borg finally having enough of the Federation and deciding to annihilate it.- Control's mission is to destroy all sentient life; the Borg are out to assimilate (not destroy)
They just assimilated Leland in the latest episode....but in all of the flash-forwards that DSC has shown us, Control is never seen assimilating anyone or anything. There is absolutely nothing indicative of the Borg in any of those future scenes.
Jeez, even the actor thought this was going to be Borg. But the fact that he talks about it openly hopefully means it's not the Borg.

This season finished filming at Christmas. The fact that van Sprang still doesn't know if it's related to the Borg confirms there is no Borg arc this season. And since a Control-Borg origin story depends on the current time travel arc, I doubt there will be one next season either, because recent interviews indicate that the first 2 season's arcs will be fully closed.IF there's a Borg arc this season,

He refers to both the past and present. He first thought of it when he first read the script, and he still doesn't know. "We’re as much in the dark as anybody else."I think he was referring to when he first read it, which was well prior to that.
