vampires

yup... i put the posts in spoliers for the people reading Anne Rice at the moment who haven't reached Marius and Akasha's story yet lol

M

I know, I left that one post out because it doesn't really reveal anything. But then most people who venture into this thread are pretty well read on the subject.

I guess the vampire diaries are kicking nbc's ass right now. I would love to see anita Blake done as a tv series.

I think NBC might be eying the international market with that idea, but they probably can't put enough nudity and sex in it. Better to make it for cable.

Vampire news! NBC considering Dracula TV series.
Set in the 1890s, it is described as “Dangerous Liaisons meets The Tudors” and as a big, sweeping international soap opera that is young, sexy and supernatural.
Ummmm, yeah. Ok then.

I don't know. Sounds like it could be good, lurid, melodramatic fun--like a modern-day take on Hammer Films. But, yeah, sounds more like cable than NBC. Are they forgetting that Dangerous Liaisons was rated R and The Tudors was on Showtime?

The Hammer Dracula's dipped in quality quite badly and didn't have all that much content, and I say that as someone who adores them. Any TV adaptation would have to do a lot more with the story and build up better regulars with more interesting stories.

My bet is that it will be a much-tamer True Blood, with lots of gorgeous costumes and location shooting, with soapiness making up for the lack of graphic sex. Doesn't really seem like the kind of thing broadcast in particular can do well.

Talk about vampires...

...what about a series called "The Vampire Lestat"?

This would cover several time frames, and show you youngsters what vampires (Anne Rice's) are REALLY about!

Let the lettuce and tomato throwing begin....:p

Re: Talk about vampires...

In all seriousness, maybe a few years ago when the whole vampire thing was just starting to ramp up... Something like this would have been a natural fit and done right, would have been a hundred times better than the "Vampire Diaries."

But I think it's played out by now (thankfully).. With True Blood still doing well in the ratings and the (gack) continued success of the Twilight movies, we're getting plenty of what we want. Once TB and Twilight are done, I hope they'll let the genre rest for a while.

@ Mr. Cox I would love to see you write a I,vampire novel or an american vampire story.

Four Underworld novels wasn't enough? Or Tomorrow Sucks? Or The Black Shore? Or that Morbius story I did for Spider-Man years ago? Or my infamous bulemic vampire story? :)

Seriously, I'm getting itchy to write another vampire book. And those would be very fun projects. (I wouldn't mind tackling Dark Shadows or the Creature Commandoes either.)

I've been looking for the Underworld novels for some time but they're not easy to get hold of in the UK.

not familar with the creatur commando's are they marvel or dc or indi?

as for Dark Shadows I just started watching them on netflix for the first time.

for those who missed the gates it is now on Netflix.
