Vampire TV series

What are some good tv series based on vampires?

Angel is one of my all-time favorites and I seen Buffy but I wouldn't really consider that a vampire series since she slays other magical creatures.

Is Kindred the Embraced any good? How about Blade the tv series?

Blade was pretty cool if you don't mind the fact that Blade was the least interesting and least engaging character. But Jill Wagner is hot and there's a big story arc from start to finish for those not content with standalone episodes upon standalone episodes.

Moonlight is another short-lived show you might give a shot.

Tru Blood is awesome. It's Buffy meets Nip/Tuck. It's so terribly trashy but it's also ever so much fun.

Kindred was decent but kind of hokey at times. If it had been given more of a chance I think it would have been good.

I'm really wanting to watch the new British show "Demons".

I was a great fan of the six-episode UK limited series "Ultraviolet." Quite a winner.

"Ultraviolet" (not to be confused with the Milla Jovovich movie) was great.

Other vampire series include:

BLOOD TIES

MOONLIGHT.

DARK SHADOWS (the 1980s prime-time revival).

Thanks I'll check Blade out. I much prefer story arcs than stand-alones. Does it have different vampire clans like the movie?

Forever Knight, Kindred the Embraced and Blood Ties (along with Buffy) are tops for me.

The Blade series does have different vampire houses like in Blade 1. The main one is the House of Chthon, but several others are featured or mentioned throughout the course of the series.

There's a lot of vampire clan politics and intrigue and what not in the series. It is pretty decent but as mentioned you should approach it as a vampire series more than a Blade series. Blade only ran for a single season but there is a storyline with a beginning and end in there so it doesn't just end with it simply dangling which is nice.

^I disagree...I love True Blood...it's campy and funny and introduced me to Stephen Moyer

Moonlight was a good series too...well, all 16 episodes of it!

Great thanks for the info! I like a series that has an ongoing storyline and that actually resolves it instead of having a cliffhanger. I love the vampire politics and intrigue found in Blade 1. So there are clan wars?

A little bit but there's a lot of internal clan stuff as well such as the purebloods vs turned vampires and jockeying for position.

Oh, someone mentioned the original Dark Shadows, and I realize I didn't give a shout out for the 90's version (very short-lived) which was great too.
