The Ultraviolet series was outlandish stuff about vampire hunters angsting over their killing vampires, since so many of them were loved ones and/or the temptations of immortality. In six episodes, I vaguely recall at least half being about the personal relationships. It was truly fascinating in a train wreck sort of way. It was made with great sincerity, though, which helps.
The original Dark Shadows are gloriously demented, being a soap opera that realized that actually having things happen, no matter how ludicrous, was the key to being entertaining. Nonetheless it is a sixties soap. Be warned. I would watch it for nostalgia myself.
Forever Knight was entertaining in a so bad it's fun way. It helps if you have a personal liking for the lead actor.
I think I read that Kindred was based on a role-playing game, which would explain things.
Never saw Buffy, Angel, Blade, Blood Ties, Moonlight or Dracula: The Series.
I guess all in all, I'd have to recommend the Ultraviolet series. The TV standard for vampires isn't very high, is it?
