Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets

I apparently forgot to mention this in my last couple posts, that all of the major e-book/digital comics retailers have the digital version of the first Valerian and Laureline comic, The City of Shifting Waters for free. This is not the source material for the movie though, that is the second comic, The Empire of a Thousand Planets.

I'm really excited about this movie. I hope it doesn't get lost in the meat grinder that will be this summer's movie season.

The partially obscured sign in the top-right corner of the poster shows "ORBEN'S". Would the full version read "KORBEN'S"? I doubt Milla Jovovich will make a cameo appearance but perhaps Bruce Willis will. I doubt that Luc Besson will otherwise seek to make the Valerian 'verse an extension of his own Fifth Element 'verse.

Young German here. Never heard of this before until I saw the trailer by chance. Sci-Fi I know from younger days would've been series like Sailor Moon, Mézga csálad and Digimon.

To the surprise of no one, except the voices in Luc Besson's head, it's a massive flop.

Step one to having some sort of success would have been to hire some real actors that people like for the lead roles.

I liked it quite abit myself, not quite as much Spider-Man: Homecoming and War for the Planet of the Apes, but I still enjoyed it.
I actually thought Dehann and Delevinge did a good job, no they weren't Oscar worthy performances or anything, but I they were able to carry the movie with no problems IMO.
Really disapppointed to hear it did that bad, I was really hoping we'd get at least one or two more. I would gladly watch them as these characters in future movies.
I really don't get what people's problem was with the story, I thought it was good, and I had no problems following it. It did kind of go off a couple times, but everything came together well in the end, and made perfect sense to me and my mom who I saw it with. Honestly, I thought it was almost a bit Trekkish in a way.
