USS Titan 3D pic????

I'm still kind of mixed on the Titan design. It's nice, but the overall arrangement reminds me of the Akira. That's what I think of when I see the ship, and on a personal level I'd prefer something more distinctive.

Okay, can someone take one of those renders and just flip the nacelles, just to see how they'd look?

Keep everything else, but change that, and I think I'd really come to like this ship tons more than I do now.

\S/

Certain angles kind of remind of the new Battlestar Galactica and the Daedalus from Stargate, which is kind of neat.

I also like the "landing strip" for the shuttlebay. It's like a driveway in front of the garage. And if I were driving...err, flying...a shuttle, it would probably help me aim so I don't knock off my rear-view mirror on the shuttlebay wall.

No, what you're describing is called a Sovereign Class. It's already been done.

So by that logic any starship with upward sweeping pylons and without a large pod on the saucer must be a Sovereign Class?

There are many ships in Starfleet with common design elements. The Nebula, Miranda and Akira classes have downturned nacelles, but they are not the same ship.

Superman & HRHTheKING: do either of you know the history behind this design? It's not getting changed at this point.

If you want to make your own ship with upturned nacelles or whatever but incorporating aspects of this design, go for it. I'm sure Sean would be complimented. But this is the USS Titan.

Congrats on the news, BTW, Sean. What an honor. Do you get the model when they are done with the tour? :D

No, and it's not really a concern.

It's not getting changed at this point.

Never said it was going to be. I am simply offering a viewpoint on the design.

It may be the USS Titan (in a non-canon way, so it doesn't really count), but it's still fair game for opinions.

John Eaves just contacted me and I guess they (CBS) are going to be doing a road tour with the Titan as the Center. So he is going to be making a 6ft.
Physical model of the Titan based off of my design. WOW!!!

All I want to know is when will there be a physical model kit of the Titan for us to buy?

I don't know if I would get the model. If I did I am not sure where I would put a 6ft ship.

It kinda does now since CBS is involved and They ARE making the the Physical model. And John Eaves is making that model.
John Eaves is very involved with anything Trek, and the Director of Product Development at CBS (John Van Citters) was on the contest voting board.

That aside. I don't feel like defending my design all over again. So please give it a rest. I do respect your opinion,
but the design has been picked, it is now a published work.
Feel free to design your own variation on a theme.

How long do you suppose it'll be before we get to see the ship flying around in some CGI scenes?

I wanna see it blow up something!

It's still not canon. Whether Eaves is building a model or not. If it appears in a live-action TV show or movie and then Paramount say it's officially canon, then that's different.

I haven't denied that the design has been picked and published. But that doesn't mean it is free from being criticised.

No Kidding, I have been over this issue for the last 2 Years.
Until this last week, "the Cannon not Cannon" issue has been over. Now it looks to be open again. Since they "CBS and Van Citters" plan to have Riker and the TITAN on screen in the future (Atleast that is what he told me in the email). So that means they are planning on pitching a series with this design. Nothing is set in stone, but the cannon issue is back open.

As for crits on my design, I have had plenty since the contest. So have at it. I have probably heard it already.

And when your ship is seen in an official live-action series, THEN it will be "canon". Until then, it isn't.

Chances are you'll be hearing it again if "Star Trek: Titan" makes it to the screen.

Glad you're happy - now let's drop it; this borders on trolling and is straying off the topic - this is the art forum, not Gen Trek. Thanks!
