USS Enterprise (eventually) on Discovery?

Continuity wise, the remastered FX is currently how TOS looks in canon.

Canon and continuity aren't the same thing. Even with that, they changed a few ship shots, nothing else changed that affected the stories. Besides, the look of TOS is no longer part of the "Prime" continuity, according to various sources. So, original or remastered doesn't matter.

It is until they re-release TOS

Well, no. They've already changed Klingon designs, the Enterprise (including the interiors), the Andorians, the Tellarites, badges are no longer cloth and sewn to uniforms. So TOS is no longer visually "Prime".

Well you can still watch the originals.

I prefer the remastered because it changes some of the reused FX and makes them unique.

I like the remastered as an option. But TOS will always look like TOS to me.

I know there was a lot of complaining about some of the new effects when TOS-R first came out, but I'd never considered people these days would consider them definitive over the originals.

This will all be moot when the Discoverse officially overwrites it, I suspect.

I personally consider each production era to be in its own visual bubble.

The lore is shared between them, but the visuals are not.

This is all my personal opinion.

Do you know how many times you've beaten us over the head with "but CBS says"? Anytime anyone dare mention their opinion of Discovery not being "Prime".
Only when people tried to argue against truth and fact. Not their personal opinion.

What exactly is fact?

Kurtzman teased that "characters that existed on Pike's ship will probably still exist in our timeline."

Seems like CBS and their creative team aren't all on exactly the same page. Kurtzman is the co-creator and showrunner of Discovery. And the above isn't some quote from three years ago when they were starting up. It was from three weeks ago.

The TOS Connie design will never go away as long as long as there are product marketed as TOS.

Like wise products marketed as DSC will use its own design.

People slip up, they’re only human. He probably meant timeframe/period.
Also at the same convention ( or was it vegas?) he said Season 2 will help explain the its place in the canon.

About as often as people beat DSC up as not being Prime as a matter of fact and anyone who thinks so is just buying the party line.

Yeah, this was my first thought. But all the talk of some secret refit for the Enterprise makes me think many people are still trying hard to make it all reconcile. That seems exhausting to me.

I extend it out to the lore. There's literally nothing anyone can do to retcon TOS for me, now that the original cast is out of the picture. (Maybe this is because I think TOS and the TOS films are head-and-shoulders above anything produced subsequently.)

If they brought Shatner back to fix Kirk's terrible death, I might accept that.

I'll repeat what I've said all along: watch the show, if you think it is Prime, then it is Prime. If you don't think it is Prime, then it isn't Prime.
And then you keep your opinion to yourself because it will be debated and flayed endlessly for being wrong.

That's the way I feel.
