Sure. But the launcher is not there. Nothing is there. If they wanted that shape, they should have added the launcher too instead of fucking up the proportions.Crossposting from the other thread, as the discussion makes more sense here.
You know, looking at the Refit connie, the neck of the DSC Enterprise is nearly identical in shape above the torpedo launcher.

I'd like to know, as well.Mirror Picard looks like John M. Jackson.
I'm still trying to figure out who that is. It's probably painfully obvious and I have a few guesses, but with the lighting and her funny face, I just can't figure it out. And it bugs me every time he posts the picture.
After seeing this for the first time a few minutes ago, I'm wondering if TPTB have something like this in mind for future remastering of TOS, to fit in with Discovery.
I will say that it's quite amazing:
Oddly enough, the un-remastered episodes are on CBS All Access. Or were anyway. I haven't checked lately.God, I hope not. The above is impressive work, but I really would like TOS to be left alone. Already we're in a position where the original effects are only available if one buy the Blu-ray's or hunts down older DVD's or videotapes.

I would like to see versions stand side-by-side, so that people always have a choice. I definitely don't want the original work to be 'replaced'.
The remastered effects are fun occasionally, but also jarring sometimes. I expect a vaguely colored hazy world and it looks like a view out the ISS window. It may just be because I grew up with TOS from an early age and I expect it to look a certain way. But I like either version, really.I would like to see versions stand side-by-side, so that people always have a choice. I definitely don't want the original work to be 'replaced'.
No way. That would cost millions upon millions upon millions of dollars to do for all of TOS. There is no way it could be cost effective.
I can't imagine it would sell the same as TOS-R. I certainly wouldn't buy it.No way. That would cost millions upon millions upon millions of dollars to do for all of TOS. There is no way it could be cost effective.

Yeah, but Pre-refit the torpedoes fire from the saucer, so.Sure. But the launcher is not there. Nothing is there. If they wanted that shape, they should have added the launcher too instead of fucking up the proportions.
Yeah, but Pre-refit the torpedoes fire from the saucer, so.
They put torpedo tubes on the saucer. So apparently it does.Does it really matter at this point?![]()
And pre-refit Enterpise looks completely fucking different than this thing. Changing the torpedo launcher while retaining the proportions of the ship would have been preferable.Yeah, but Pre-refit the torpedoes fire from the saucer, so.
