USS Enterprise (eventually) on Discovery?

But by default is cannot be the same universe as those huge, wide-ranging events if they ignored them. Amirite?
I don't see it as ignoring them. They just didn't show those Klingons or choose not to recognize them as being pure Klingons.

What we did see was a method the Klingons use to disguise themselves as humans. However, I can't picture Darvin enduring that. He was skittish as it was!

They never mentioned the time that Picard became a child again, nor the time he beamed himself into space and then snuck back aboard through the tailpipe. How's Sybok doing, BTW? Can we get a reunion? What if V'Ger met the Whale probe? How'd that transwarp drive on Excelsior work out? Transwarp beaming? Super-warp-drive-of-the-week from TNG or VOY?

If there's one thing Discovery has stayed true to it's A) the reset button B) sweeping aside Big Things that Change Everything but are inconvenient for storytelling.

What about Sarek's son's wedding where Picard met Sarek? I'm still waiting on that one.

Wasn't there a horrible episode where they tried to establish a Warp Speed Limit because all the warp travel was ripping up space? Then it seemed to have been forgotten later on.

Ooooh...that's some obscure stuff. Love it.

Yes, they were afraid everyone would turn into salamanders like that one time even though it didn't happen the other times.

Well they ignored the Klingon Augment Virus. That's a huge event that totally shaped the way we saw Klingons in the TOS era. We didn't see a single one, among any representative of the Klingon houses or on Kronos - and when we did have a Klingon posing as a human, it was done through horrific surgery and not a simple injection which causes tingling and then dissolving of the ridges.

What sense does that make (especially since they leant heavily on "In a Mirror, Darkly" which came just a couple of episodes later)??

I would tend to wait until the series has wrapped up, hopefully several years from now, to make that statement.

For all we know, these are a different subspecies of Klingons in charge of things and the human looking ones have been swept under the rug as "unworthy". They're mining dilithium on Praxis or cleaning plasma conduits.

In another 10 years, possibly as a result of the "failure" of the current ones to win a war, our Augment Klingons™ have risen back into power.

Did anyone watch After Trek, and Mira asks Anthony Rapp about Stamets meeting Spock? He then says that Stamets and McCoy could gang up and insult Spock.

Do you want to tell him, or should I?

Tell him what? This is set several years after "The Cage."

According to Memory Alpha: "In 2266, McCoy was the Life Sciences department head and the chief medical officer of the Enterprise."

Nothing about that says he was assigned to the Enterprise that year. He could very well be aboard by that time, though not serving as the Chief Medical Officer.

Exactly. Can the series at least wrap up its story before being beaten to death?

No?

Ok... :(

My biggest question are the uniforms. The ones we see featured in The Cage are similar to those seen in regular use throughout TOS. If Discovery's uniforms are worn all throughout Starfleet, then the Enterprise crew of that time period should be wearing them. But, in about a decade's time, they very nearly revert back to what we first see in The Cage.

Odd, but, ok.

I took as being a test phase on the Constitution class, with eventual adoption being done fleet wide.

They're out of toilet paper. Discovery beams some over. The Enterprise leaves. We never do see the bridge, the crew, nor the uniforms.

Fans have anurisms.
Acting Captain's log, Stardate 3392.6: The Discovery has completed its resupply of the USS Enterprise's toiletries. Captain Pike has been advised not to let it happen again or be assigned to a training vessel, per Starfleet General Order 33.
