Yes, the Astral Queen might have not been even at the planet, yet. A closer approach scene that would have been good would be with the Antares rendezvous. If the scene where Kirk contacts Dailey to ask him to forego his pickup of the Karidian troupe then we could have gotten a quick clear shot of the Astral Queen in orbit. Otherwise, as I noted, some of the physical details could be painted on or even left off.
With such a well built and detailed model, a closer approach would be warranted.![]()
So, roughly what dimensions would see her scaling out at against the Enterprise?

Plus, with that level detail, what size filming miniature might have been built to give us the possibility of one or two closer up shots, like the departing shot you gave us?
EDIT: And considering her role, shields perhaps, but would she have any armaments, perhaps not standard, but could Daly have put minimal weapons on her?
The cool thing about the WNMHGB phaser rifle is while it looks stylistically similar to the laser pistols it doesn’t look like it uses some of the exact same parts. It looks like its own thing rather than a form of kitbash.
Yep. And I don’t care for the Arial anyway. I like the Helvetica better and I’m going with that.
I've dinked around with the Aurora over the years, coming from the perspective of spending a few more dollars on modifying the dart. This is where I was when I last lost interest:

Agreed on both counts. Rifle shot at Mitchell looked cool, even if it wasn't affecting him!Same with the phaser rifle. It was a very cool prop, and looked powerful & dangerous. To my mind, it, along with the laser cannon from the cage, were the only two weapons from the series that truly looked like they could lop the top off of a mountain without even heating up.
Cool! Actually I think I might have seen this sometime ago.Tacky auction-house video notwithstanding, this interview with the designer of the phaser rifle is quite interesting. There is a glimpse of some concept sketches too.
