Uniforms in the new series

But, a lot of the literature out there treats it as gold. Regardless of production values, there is still how people saw it.

Because they say the skies are pink, and they write as well doesn't mean they be pink forever. Sooner or later people will judge what they see with their eyes, and they're eyes will see it's true colors. Glad I have them on HD and not color corrected to ruin the nice colors the production team done. It looks great. Far better than NTSC.

Yeah I went back and watched a TOS HD episode to see if maybe I was just not remembering correctly. And yep still looks gold to me. If your head canon says its green, then that is your prerogative. I still like to think that the Klingons always had the ridges, despite what the canon says.

It looks gold in TOS Remastered as well. We see gold, they call it gold, it is gold.

Look and see:
Image on HD that presents the true image of the uniform:

NTSC crappy image that made a lot of people very ignorant.

Canon??? Like what someone said or mentioned? Anything mentioned is a retcon. I didn't say you couldn't accept it, what I'm accepting is what I see. Not what DS9 or Berman Encyclopedia says.

Not sure why it is an issue, but I still see kind of gold, though the shadows might be throwing it off. The color seems to shift, at least to my poor eyesight, depending on the lighting.

Yes, in NTSC it looks more orange, but HD is still not green.

Yellow, not green.

I tested many different points on uniforms, and only point that registered as even slightly greenish was the extreme highlight on the lieutenant's shoulder. Otherwise the uniforms are solidly on the yellow and orange side, depending on the lightning.

Now, whether the actual physical shirts used in the filming were more green I don't know, nor does it matter, any more than it matters that Odo's stasis pod was actually a breadmaker. We saw yellow/gold, so that's what it is. Also confirmed in the dialogue.

Different materials could be nice, with less wool and something a little more comfortable and practical. I didn't mind the duty jacket over turtleneck concept, but the materials are just too stiff for daily use, in my opinion.

People know that it wasn't the true color of the uniform, that doesn't mean it's canon. And there are plenty of screenshots on Trekcore that show the colors still looking yellow/gold, even in HD.
Just to complicate the matter, real gold can often look greenish.

And the whole outfit looked like it would be VERY hot under studio lights.

If they keep the division colors I hope they at least expand them from three (I know the TWOK uniforms had more but the division colors were buried under all that red and barely noticable)

I'd like

Green (command) as a nod to Kirks green wraparound
Red (security)
Blue (science)
Purple (medical)
Yellow (operations)

That sounds a lot more colorful than it actually would be, in practice only the captain and the XO (if he's a dedicated one) would wear green.

No. More than three colours would look like a circus.
Keep in mind that TOS already had four colors, Kirks wraparound was supposed to be the same color as the regular one but looked completely different and in my version green would be worn by barely anyone like in the TOS setup. So the only new color would be purple for medical and that's close to blue, it doesn't make such a big difference.

And in real life the navy doesn't have problems with their deck crews looking like a "circus".
