On the 18th of May when I was getting headshots for acting gigs the photographer asked me about my name.
The conversation went something like this:
HIM: You're name is not really Joel Kirk? It just sounds a bit too unique.
ME: Kinda like 'Jamie Foxx' right? Um, I did change it at one point. And, yes the last name did come from a Star Trek character.

Sometime later, at my former 'day job,' a student and I were talking about Star Wars and Star Trek. And, that particular conversation went something like this:
HER: I don't like Star Wars. I don't like Star Trek. I only saw the first one.
ME: The first one was okay, the story is stronger than the second movie.
HER: Um, I wasn't watching for the story. I was paying attention to the hot guy.
ME: Who Zachary Quinto? Spock?
HER: No, Chris Pine.
