Two new Star Trek films in the works

Yeah i know. In an ideal world obviously i want to see more of my favorite character but that's just a fanboy...girl dream. I'm not entirely against prequels, they just always seem to violate preciously established canon. Either directly contradicting previously estanlished facts or having more advanced technology than they should, or introducing a new species as a main chatacter
Well, Star Trek has a wonderful history of ignoring previously established events so I guess that is less worrying to me as it is telling a decent story. Continuity comes and goes.

I have zero interest in any starships being front and center. For me it's about the cast, exploring new reaches of space, and furthering the story. As for Wesley I dislike the character so I hope not.

Commodore Bob Wesley not Wesley Crusher.

Secondly, how much of space was really explored in TOS?

And there are the deep space vessels sent to rendezvous with Voyager that are still out there.

Gosh, I thought that was just a figment of my imagination because I could never find another reference to that. Admiral Windbag said two ships would be sent towards Voyager and rendezvous in about 7 years. Right?

Yup. Poor souls. I doubt they know they are the one's lost now. Lol

Sure, explore the Alpha Quadrant but not in a prequel. I'm past watching characters of old pop up. For me it's like watching the Titanic. You know how it ends before the title flashes across the screen.

And yet, people still watched that film.

And fair enough. I'm generally prefer going forward, but post VOY always struck me as just as risky as a prequel. It isn't easy either way.

The Twilight Zone reboot is definitely happening. Click!

The Trek ones are stuff I've heard from people in the know, to run between seasons of Discovery. But I've just got someone's word to go on. No clue if they've gone beyond the concept stage.

That’s good. I hope it retains something of the charm present in the original series. And if Twilight Zone is coming back, the Outer Limits can’t be too far behind.

Just because fans expect it doesn't make it a good idea. Otherwise we would get my TOS movie about the Chief of Security. That's a good idea, right? ;)

I don't mind exploring the aftermath of the destruction of Romulus but I'm less interested in the fall of the Federation.

.

But some fan ideas are good, like the ones I have. :nyah:

I’m ambivalent on the post voyager era, largely because it got dull. Super tech defending a perfect society from the hoards of races with equal or superior tech, but lacking the spunk of human awesomeness to which they’ll eventually succumb.

Pretty much.

A complete side note....tons of people watched titanic and didn't know how it was going to end. Especially when they re released it a few years back

The TNG, DS9 and Voyager era was the best of times. We got this amazing universe with all those interesting races. Endless possibilities to create great stories.
And then the stupid people in charge ruined it all with that prequel "Enterprise". Just as if the record industry should have scrapped the recent technology and gone back to 78 rpm records and one microphone for a whole band. It's ridiculous!

What we have now is lame attempts to re-make TOS and a totally messed-up timeline for Star Trek. Not to mention the total screwing-up of established Trek history and how dull and boring NuTrek is. I can't stand that crap!
I rather watch seasons 1-3 of Voyager for the 1100 time than watch a single minute of "Discovery".

Surely that's subjective. And with a forth Kelvin movie on the way and second season of Disco, I'd say they must be popular enough.
Maybe subjective but still the truth.
And I think most of the "popularity" is because of starved Star Trek fans who watch anything with the name Star Trek on it.

Sorry. I see the name Wesley and my PTNG (Post Traumatic Next Gen.) surfaces.

And what is it with Star Trek and recycled names. Geesh...
Well, Wesley was Gene Roddenberry's middle name I believe.

Yeah! It's not like vinyl would ever make a come...oh...never mind.

Vinyl has made a come back.
But I guess that might have happened because of nostalgic reasons or because the sound quality might be better on some vinyl recordings. However, I doubt that it will last in the long run.

And neither will the lame attempts to come up with TOS prequels.
