Sorry? What? Oh, you want to know which "TV star" is currently atop of the WB wishlist?

Says our insider, "[He's a] popular TV actor that no one is thinking of, but everyone will be thrilled with if he pulls on the blue tights"

Your first guess is likely the right one.

There was a rumor about that guy from "Chuck" but apparently that's not whose being considered. That said, it is a "TV star" and... I dunno, the way this bit is phrased, it makes me think maybe Welling might actually be in consideration from the line "Your first guess is likely the right one."

Anyway, Welling aside -- what other TV stars could done the blue tights and red cape and become the Man of Steel?

Tom Welling? I sure hope not.

Do they mean TV star as someone who is the star of his own show (Matthew Bomer) or someone who is part of a hit ensemble (George Eads)?

Maybe they'll shock everyone and cast Rob Morrow. :)

Welling's 33, a perfect age. My first reaction was "nah, he's done too much Smallville", but then I realized that Welling-Supes movies would probably retcon most if not all of Smallville out of existence, and that'd actually be pretty cool.

So, sure, why not?

No way should Welling get the job. He refuses to even wear a tie on Smallville for frak's sake.

Unprofessional much ?

Jon Hamm. ;)

Obviously I hope you are right!

I am a fan and supporter of Brandon Routh returning. But since thats not in the cards I will gladly and enthusiastically support Jon Hamm playing my all time favorite character.

In fact I am not sure I would except anyone else.

If they're saying it's someone nobody is thinking of, doesn't that exclude Jon Hamm, Matthew Bomer and Tom Welling, all of whom have been atop wishlists for some time?

Time to think outside the box. Hurley from Lost? Larry David? William Shatner? No, seriously though, it sounds a bit more leftfield than normal. Buggered if I can think of a serious contender. Josh Holloway with a dyejob and accent training? That guy who played Samantha's lover in Sex and the City? David Boreanaz? Any of the tv actors who were up for Captain America?

It depends on what the Warner insider talking to Moviehole meant by someone "no one is thinking of". After all, it's hard to reconcile that statement with a popular TV actor everyone will be thrilled with and who would readily spring to mind as a first guess. Anyone who fits the bill that well would have been mentioned in online wish lists, which makes me think that the insider isn't referring to online talk, but rather to the actors Warners has been thinking of for the part in the past. My guess is it's Jon Hamm.
