Tuvok's Future (Star Trek XI Spoilers)

SPOILER ALERT**************
It just occurred to me, in this new, altered time line, which takes place in the new film, and over 100 years before the events of Star Trek: Voyager, does Tuvok ever serve on Voyager, or for that matter exist at all? In the film the entire planet of Vulcan is destroyed, killing Billions of Vulcan citizens who live there. The only Vulcans who live, are the ones like Spock who serve on Vulcan and Federation vessels, or live on other planets. If I remember in the episodes "Flashback, and "Gravity", Tuvok was born and raised on Vulcan, and didn't join Starfleet until the events of "Star Trek: VI: The Undiscovered Country". That means Tuvok either wasn't born yet and his mother and father were killed, or most likely he was a small child on Vulcan, when it was destroyed by the Romulans in this new movie.

That would mean the events of Voyager would be changed as well. Wasn't Tuvok the one who was on the Maquis vessel as a spy, before they were swept into the Delta Quadrant? Voyager following after, and got swept into the Delta Quadrant as well. Perhaps because of Tuvok never existing, Voyager now doesn't get sent to the Delta Quadrant at all, or perhaps it's a different Federation ship, instead of Voyager.

Voyager...officially made non-canon in one sweeping blow

You just spoiled Trek XI for those who haven't seen it yet. Sorry Jaespol.

Ah well. If TPTB can so cheerfully create a whole dfferent universe disregarding canon (or do they admit it's different and do some clever time travel get out clause thingy or something? I've not seen it yet......) that gives the rest of us who aren't happy with some things even more excuse just to take on board the things we like and disregard the things we don't.

I'll have Janeway alive, Will Riker dead and Deanna pregnant by Q, Harry (sweet though he is) leaving Starfleet to join a travelling circus, and the whole of Deep Space Nine sucked through the wormhole never to return :p

Didn't you notice the relationship between Spock & Uhura?
If they had a child he would be a Black Vulcan, wouldn't he?

It's a good thing someone else already spoiled it for me or I'd be about to smack you upside the head.

Your spoiler alert in the post doesn't mitigate the spoiler in the topic. Good job.

As it is, TPTB have, as I understand it, said this is a whole new timeline.

Re: Since Vulcan is destroyed, does that mean Tuvok never exist?

The timeline being reset blows the safety of the Federation away for more than just Vulcan. The original timeline Enterprise was in the right place at the right time to save untold billions of lives.

Here is a list of things that are still going to come out of deep space and mess with Starfleet. The new Kirk is going to be able to take these threats on just as well as someone who was a bookworm at the academy and earned his way to command by serving on the U.S.S. Republic?

-Nomad
-V'ger
-Whale probe
-Doomday machine
-Space amoeba
-Operation Annilate creatures
-Warp caple gasous energy being from obsession
-Lazarus?
-The Tholians
-The Gorn
-Mid 23rd century agression by Klingon Empire

Re: Since Vulcan is destroyed, does that mean Tuvok never exist?

I've seen the movie but,

Nice spoiler to got there. Why have the spoiler alert when it's not necessary now. :wtf:

Re: Since Vulcan is destroyed, does that mean Tuvok never exist?

What is the use of putting a spoiler alert in your post when you put a Huge spoiler in your thread title?

lols, I knew already unfortunately, i got it spoiled :(

Booked my imax tickets for Friday though, the perfect reward for all my hard exam work!

Hmm...that's an interesting statement. If I hadn't seen the movie yet I would have smacked you upside the head though for spoiling the movie! But I've seen it already..I question that as well. The events of Voyager might not happen now that the timeline is somewhat altered.

Isn't the universe in the new movie supposed to be an alternate reality? I haven't seen it yet but have heard something to that effect.

That was my interpretation after seeing the movie. Just like the main universe isn't bound by what happens in the mirror universe, it's not affected by this new universe either.

Yes, Old Spock states it.

What do you mean you haven't seen it yet?
I thought all MOD's of every Trek board got free passes?

You know, that was one of my first thoughts after the movie. But, then I had to put it in the light that this is a parellel universe to the one we all know and love. It is quite possible that Voyager's events still happened, but it was Klingon or something instead of Tuvok.

I have a really hard time coming to grips with the thought that TNG, DS9, and ESPECIALLY Voyager's captain may never come to pass in this universe, but I respect the idea of this reboot.
