TRUEBLOOD: The books, the comics and the tv series

This is one that does have to go with the warning that it's not for the easily offended. It's got a ton of nudity throughout the seasons, and fair amount of gore.
as a horror movie fan and a pervert, it sounds good to me ;)

You'll enjoy the show then, it's got just enough plot and mystery to keep it fresh and interesting, but strewn with cursing, gore, sex and pretty fucked up situations inbetween.

The wife and I usually blow through each DVD season set as they are released. Due to circumstances beyond our control, we've gone slowly through season 3, but still loving it and I agree with the above poster, Pam is spectacularly yummy, my favorite!

^ She really is the Snark Meister - "Blah blah blah, vampire emergency, blah". Pam is made of win. Moar Pam!

I rather enjoyed the first two (uneven) seasons, regardless of the fact the show doesn't know if it wants to be a drama (death of Godric), a farce (most of Jason and the Keystone Kops) or an actual allegory (the Chidren of the Sun). And it's a great pity the two leads are the least interesting thing about the show, yet...

I gave the first book a go.

And, frankly, it was one saddest pieces of subcrafted FanFic I've ever waded through. It really does boggle me how it got published. Then again, the first Twilight book was equally trite, yet...

Thank the gods an ACTUAL writer, Alan Ball, took Harris' cute ideas and wrote some proper dialogue around them for the TV show.

I've yet to watch season 3 following a friend of mine lambasting it. Yet, she is a huge fan of the books, so there's a block of salt-lick attached to her when it comes to the show.

For me, for all its daftness and shortcomings, this is one of the few screen adaptations which is unequivocally stronger and smarter than the source material.

Hugo - Giving V to Jason Stackhouse is like givin' ho ho's to a diabetic!

Good to see you again Hugo and I mos def won't read a TB book now, so thanks. Season 3 is better than 2 which took two episode maenad story and flogged it to death. However as a few weepy guys here will agree, the roof scene redeemed a lot of sins.

*shifty look*

I'm sure I don't know what you mean, madam.

:shifty:

The wife and I love the show.. I started reading the books first and she's now catching up.. The last couple felt REALLY rushed and the stories were just kind of 'meh' IMHO... The wife has started the latest book and is so far, enjoying it.. I've been too damn busy with fires to sit down and read anything substantial...

The next-to-last book I really liked. Haven't read the brand-new one. The couple of previous books with the "Mr. Clean" tiger shape-shifter who kept calling Sookie "Babe" all the time had me reaching for the airsick bag. All of the previous ones I enjoyed to that point.

My wife agrees with me on the above opinion and she's the one who got me going on the books.

Unfortunately, we'll have to wait a year to see season 4 on DVD. We don't get HBO and I'm not springing per month for one show we'd like to see. No thanks. Cheaper to buy the season sets.

Once again, I must say....MORE PAM! Yeah! ;)=

don't forget true blood season 4 starts tomarrow.
have free HBO for a while here's hoping it's for thirteen weeks.

:evil::evil::evil::evil: OMG tara is gay and still no nude shot of her what the hell.
did they get more money for there special affect budget or what. what a way to start a show I glad sam did'nt kill his brother and now hanging why other shape shifters. fantastic new start this is going to be a great season. and I hope I get free hbo for the summer. and can't jason stay out of trouble at least one season.

well tainted love is getting so good. I am just wondering if the comic series will fill in the year long gap between season 3 & 4. I'll have to wait till next year for season 4 on blu ray.

I was reading an intview (I think in TV Guide (?)) and the interviewee, either Alan Ball or one of the other writer/producers, admitted that the show and comics take place in separate versions of the TB universe. So I wouldn't expect to much a of connection between the two.

tainted love #6 out next week. can't wait have few hbo agin for awhile so I get to do catch up on the show later tonight.........

okay I now have all 11 books and a anotholgy called:

a touch of dead: (which contains these stories)

  1. FAIRY DUST
  2. DRACULA NIGHT
  3. ONE WORLD ANSWER
  4. LUCY
  5. GIFT WRAP
and I was wondering if there were any others and if any one knows in what other books they are in.

the sookie stackhouse companion will be released on aug. 30, 2011 and it's ready for pre-order for the nook. and there will be a new sookie short in it as well.

For The Comics TRUE BLOOD: FRENCH QUARTER vol. 3 in the comic book series begins next week.

okay this I think is so going to be better than season 4 and tainted love which was good I thought.
okay plot we have a serial killer vampire killing vampires.
useing a silver tipped stake. twist after he kills his victim he licks the silver. weired huh.:evil::evil::evil::evil:
