News True Detective season 4 Jodie Foster to star

We got more information including a synopsis:

When the long winter night falls in Ennis, Alaska, the six men that operate the Tsalal Arctic Research Station vanish without a trace. To solve the case, Detectives Liz Danvers (Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Kali Reis) will have to confront the darkness they carry in themselves, and dig into the haunted truths that lie buried under the eternal ice.
Issa López (Tigers Are Not Afraid) will serve as showrunner, writer, director, and executive producer. This will be the first season of the show not run by original creator, Nic Pizzolatto, although he will be staying on as an executive producer. The show will be filmed in Iceland but no news on when it's set to premiere.

I'm very excited about this season. I'm still hoping Jodie will get the opportunity to direct at least one episode.

I'm looking forward to this. There hasn't been a bad season of this show, including S2 (which just wasn't as good as S1 is all).

All I remember about the second season was the excellent use of Leonard Cohen's "Nevermind" as the theme song, Rachel McAdams being terribly underutilized, and a very cool and trippy sequence in one episode.

Despite the story in season 2 not being as great as its first season, I still felt there was something fresh and interesting about Rachel McAdams' performance that seperated it from her other usual performances..

No full trailer yet but we do get some glimpses of the upcoming season in HBO Max’s 2023 sizzle trailer:

Looked up on Wikipedia for a premiere date but nothing has been announced yet, although they did finish filming last month. While there, I discovered that John Hawkes, Fiona Shaw, and Christopher Eccleston have all joined the cast!

I'm looking forward to this. There hasn't been a bad season of this show, including S2 (which just wasn't as good as S1 is all).
I wouldn't exactly call S3 "bad" but I found it inferior to the others, with less compelling characters and plot.

I found Season 3 to be a step up from season 2. In Season 2, Vince Vaughn was out of his depths, and I found the best thing about it was Rachel McAdams for doing something against her type.

I found Season 3 to be really interesting and Ali's character was quite compelling.

It kind of low key blew my mind that they made up a fictional Dungeons and Dragons sourcebook seemingly based on Lovecraft.

Early on I thought the D&D angle would end up being a bigger part of the story.

We finally have a full trailer!

Looks pretty damm good. We don't get much in the way of the story, instead focusing on the atmosphere of the story and the, forgive me, icy relationship between Foster's and Reis' characters. No glimpses of Shaw, Hawkes, or Eccleston.

Variety has some more details on the season and one thing stood out: The showrunner for this season, Issa López, directed all of the episodes, which is a shame because I was really hoping Foster would direct an episode or two. It's not surprising considering the growing trend of a single director for shorter seasons to maintain a consistent voice.

The new Fargo season five trailer coming out reminded me we hadn't heard anything about this season recently...and lo and behold, there was a second trailer a month ago:
