True Blood goes for second bite

HBO's Southern-fried vampire dramedy is already given a second season.

Some of you love it, and some of you hate it . But regardless of what you think of True Blood, know this: There will be more. HBO has already ordered a second season of the dark comedy/vampire romance from executive producer Alan Ball (Six Feet Under) after only two episodes have aired.

Bill the vampire.

The cable network apparently has seen enough to warrant committing to a second season, as the numbers from the first two episodes didn't suck. The show debuted on September 7 to 1.4 million viewers, but water-cooler talk propelled the second episode to a 24-percent jump in viewership (according to The Hollywood Reporter)--always a great sign.

Can't say I've seen any of it yet, but either way, that was fast. Glad to see Alan Ball working, in any regard.

I don't care about ranking On Demand ratings or any of that, so it just doesn't seem fair that this show -- which is getting lower ratings than Carnivale and Deadwood ever did -- has already been renewed. Granted, I'm enjoying it, but I miss Brother Justin and Al Swearengen.

This show has to be cheaper to produce also, since it's set in modern day USA instead of Deadwood or Rome.

Since killing Carnivale and Deadwood, and aborting Preacher before it even reached the screen, I couldn't honestly give two fcuks about anything on HBO.

I've got the two aired episodes recorded on my DVR but I haven't watched them yet. Guess I better have a look see.
