Trip & T'Pol: The Good That They Do

Oh wow...all those 'Forgotten' caps make me want to watch it again *digs out ENT dvds*

welcome back trippy.. how are the admirals
;)
tothebridge thanks for the those forgotten caps
:)
and you were right.. the t/t elements were touted as romantic in harbinger
heck at a news conference in the summber before they were talking about the t/t romance.

tothebridge i may be wrong but i wondered if tpol was testing trip with the two day line. because back in damage we find out they would meet degra in three days.
so if tpol knew it had been three days and trip just agrees without a debate no wonder she was concerned enough to tattle him out to phlox.

and no wonder phlox was so adamant about trip sleeping.

but, that later scene in forgotten between them as trip finally is able to grieve for lizzie is just so great. i do wish trip had reminded her of it and that she had admitted then that vulcans do experience grief when tpol's mother had died.

Jinx, thanks for that bit from the "Similitude" script. :) I was thinking to myself the other day if there was any more to that scene, moreso within the context of the show rather than scripted and not filmed. I also was thinking along the lines of conversation, but the scripted thing is an interesting thought too.

Trippy, I've been watching ENT on the DVDs along with the SciFi channel airings... though I am pretty behind now... and it definitely reafirms why I was a fan to begin with... that goes for the series and for T/T.

ttb and HR, thanks for the caps and comments. "The Forgotten" is one of my favorites of the series, and that final T/T scene is just excellent. All of their moments in that episode are great though, IMHO.

pookha: I wasn't around during the summer between season 2 and season 3... care to share more detailed rumblings about the T/T romance from that time? I don't know if I've read any articles from that time period, and I definitely didn't know the T/T thing was coming. I was just excited for the new direction the show was taking.

Yes, JiNX,thanks for the "Similitude" script notes. Seeing that sort of reinforces my view that T'Pol was kissing both Sim and Trip (perhaps for different reasons) or at least that the audience was supposed to wonder if that was the case. :)

That's an interesting thought. You're right...there was the mention of three days to meet up with Degra but I didn't remember if that was the time to meet up with him after "Damage" or after "E2" when they had been through the corridor . Trip did look like he was on the verge of collapse at that point, though, so I can see why she'd be concerned enough to want Phlox's involvement.

boushh, I wasn't around then either. In fact, I don't think I started watching again until the middle of the S3 re-run schedule. When I came back, though, I started going online to find out what I'd missed -- that's how I found this board. :)

One of the things I remember hearing/reading about was the 2003 summer press tour (this may be one of the things pookha was referring to)-- during one of the ENT sessions, B&B rolled out the plans for S3 (SB, JB, and CT were there as well). This article at startrek.com provides a pretty good summary -- towards the end they address the question of S3 romance.

Another one which relates specifically to "Harbinger" is this one from TrekToday. There were a few others related to that episode as well.

OK, I'm officially behind with posting a few episode caps now -- too busy this past week -- but I couldn't let last Monday’s SciFi block go by (E2, etc.) without posting a few of my favorite ones.

From "Countdown"

Trip and T'Pol are working together to find a way of disabling the sphere network, but T'Pol is still recovering and there's tension between them.
Countdown_8_4web.jpg

After they trade a few barbs, Trip's had enough and tells T'Pol he's going to work elsewhere.
Countdown_1_4web.jpg

T'Pol realizes that she may've gone too far and does something guaranteed to stop Trip in his tracks.
"Trip!” she says.
Countdown_2_4web.jpg

I think he’s as surprised as we are.
Countdown_3_4web.jpg

T’Pol apologizes, explains that everything that's happened has made her emotional, says it will take some time to regain her control, and that she may not be able to do it on her own. (Looks like she decided to take T’Pold’s advice after all.)
Countdown_10_4web.jpg

Trip says he’ll be all ears when the crisis is over, gives her a smile, and suggests they take another crack at the sphere problem.
Countdown_4_4web.jpg

T’Pol looks relieved and grateful….
Countdown_5_4web.jpg

After that, they’re able to disable the spheres, and T’Pol takes another step towards Trip in “Zero Hour.” This scene makes me go “Awww….” And the word “courtly” comes to mind when I see Trip holding T’Pol’s hand that way.

Trip is getting anxious about the lack of communication from Archer, and T’Pol tries to provide some support using a hand on the shoulder. (I guess it worked so well in “The Forgotten that she decided to try it again.)
ZeroHour_1_4web.jpg

Trip notices that her skin doesn’t seem to be healing as quickly as his and jokes about Vulcans not being so tough
ZeroHour_2_4web.jpg

T’Pol seems a bit agitated by his remark and pulls her hand away telling Trip that Phlox says they should all be back to normal in a few days. Trip says he was only kidding, takes her hand again, and
ZeroHour_3_4web.jpg

tells T'Pol that she looks nice like that... sort of like an old oil painting.
ZeroHour_4_4web.jpg

T’Pol misunderstands,
ZeroHour_5_4web.jpg

says that she is not old and finally tells Trip her age.
ZeroHour_6_4web.jpg

Trip is surprised and says he can't believe T'Pol told him that.
ZeroHour_7_4web-1.jpg

T'Pol replies that Trip accused her of looking "old."
ZeroHour_8_4web.jpg

Trip wants to know shy she's telling him her age now.
ZeroHour_9_4web.jpg

And T’Pol can’t quite look at him as she admits that age is “intimate” information to Vulcans.
ZeroHour_10_4web.jpg

Trip repeats the word “intimate” and simply looks at T’Pol (speculatively) as he contemplates what T’Pol’s revelation may mean. :)
ZeroHour_11_4web.jpg

Nice continuity on this one. The scene works as a follow-up to the conversation in “E2” where T’Pol and Trip denied that they wanted an intimate/romantic relationship. Now T’Pol takes the step of revealing intimate information to Trip – perhaps an acknowledgement on her part that their relationship really is (or potentially could be) intimate in nature. And they also managed to resolve the issue of Trip teasing T’Pol about her age, which came up in seasons 1 and 2.

I love both of those scenes. Talk about great expressions, once again. There is something gentle about their interaction once again, except the beginning of the one from "Countdown". I love that quality they bring into scenes at times.

tothebridge: Thanks for the articles. :) I don't remembe reading the first one before. I'll check out the second one in a minute. There is a quote from Berman and a description in the first one that made me laugh out loud.

"I think if we see any romantic interaction between Ms. Blalock and anybody on this panel, it's probably the man sitting to her left." He was referring to Trinneer, who raised his fist high in victory, drawing laughter from the press corps.

As someone who was not yet following the show as it geared up for Season 3, I found these articles a fascinating read. Thanks for the links, ttb. :)

I was trying to put myself in the minds of you folks who had been watching the show through Season 2... you'd seen the episodes in which the writers had tested the A/T'P waters, so to speak, including The Expanse, in which T'Pol has resigned from the VHC to stay with Archer and Enterprise... and now, at the UPN press tour, the press guys ask about the only pairing that seems to have been set up. It must have been something of a bombshell for Berman to reply that any pairing would likely be T'Pol and Trip.

Also interesting to note that they had filmed through Extinction by that point ("intimate" neuropressure and peaches :) ), so everybody up on the stage knew exactly what was being set up for Season 3. :D

Gorgeous Pictures from one of my favorite TnT thanks for posting them TTB. I think was really hard for T'Pol to open up to Trip an admit she needed his help in that earlier Scene. She realized she pushes him to far and apologizes to Him. I really liked the fact that tells her She's beautiful and she just hears the old part. And finally tells him her age at long last and that kind of information was condidered intimate. She was feeling shy about opening up to him like that and thinking baout how she wanted their relationship to progress. :) About the tv press conference and the articles about season 3 with Rick Berman announcing they would have a relationship storyarc in season 3 for Trip & T'Pol I remember that really well.i still have newspaper articles I printed off the internet from season 3 and the suprise responses from the press about that announcement. And a big picture of the actors from Startrek uk magazine of Scott,Jolene and Connor.

^^Reanok, I thought I vaguely remembered having seen a clip or picture from that press conference -- maybe someone posted some of the pics from that magazine you mentioned....

Perhaps....I've wondered, though, how far in advance some of the hints of a T/T pairing actually started and if the "insider" spoilers were already out (at least on the internet) before that press conference.

But for some folks who had expected an eventual T/T pairing from the beginning, maybe it wasn't such a huge shock.

And before the holiday arrives, I wanted to get a few of my favorite caps from "Home" in....

T'Pol and Trip share a teasing moment before T'Les shows up -- he says she always was a snazzy dresser. :)
Home_1_4web.jpg

Trip introduces himself to T'Les, then
Home_2_4web.jpg

takes a quick look at T'Pol, who seems to give a nonverbal prompt for Trip to
Home_3_4web.jpg

show off his Vulcan greeting. And T'Pol looks for her mother's reaction. Cute scene.
Home_4_4web.jpg

Trip's reaction after T'Les says she knows he's romantically involved with her daughter. After spilling some details to T'Les, Trip says that he thought T'Pol wasn't going to say anything.
Home_5_4web.jpg

T'Les says, "She didn't...." and Trip hangs his head
Home_6_4web.jpg

as he realizes he's been outwitted by T'Les.
Home_7_4web.jpg

T'Pol tells Trip that she plans to marry Koss. :( And they both seem to realize that any ideas and hopes they held for a relationship have changed drastically.
Home_8_4web.jpg

As the wedding procession moves toward the courtyard, T'Pol takes Trip's arm and turns quickly to give him a kiss.
HOme_11_4web.jpg

Her expression as she turns away and goes out to Koss :(
Home_12_4web.jpg

Trip's reaction.

Were Trip and T'Pol really only on their minds at the start of Season 3? I felt a lot of natural chemistry between them in the first season. It seemed like it was possibly building to something further down the track, but then the Archer and T'Pol show took over. In fact, their relationship early on, made me think of a typical Trek romance, in the TNG way of things anyway. Lots of hints, but never anything concrete, just like Picard and Crusher and Riker and Troi. I like to think T'Pol's fascination with Trip started in Strange New World, and grew !

Poor T'Pol & Trip it was so difficult for the both of them that she had to marry Koss it was nearly too much to bear for Trip in that last Picture. To answer your question TTB I always rooted for Trip & T'Pol becoming a couple after watching Broken bow, Strange new worlds and Breaking the ice I liked their chemistry and the actors made the characters special. So when I heard the news about season 3 I was excited to hear the news about them becoming a couple.

*waves* Hi Everybody! Long time, no see. Sorry about my prolonged absense, but I was off fighting Ninja Bears in Space on my giant spoon-shaped wise-cracking japanese robot Momosuke.

Hi kalysto. :)

I think it's possible that TPTB were testing the waters (with T/T and everyone else to see who clicked), and at the time I figured T/T would be the most logical ship to try if they decided to build a romance.

I thought they had great chemistry from the start, regardless of what they were doing... working, fighting, confiding...

And yeah, I think it's possible they were intrigued by each other from the start, even if they irritated each other too. ;)

I am new to this board but I loved ENT and Loved Trip and T'Pol I am still angry about the last ep and rewritten it in my head

Hello PoundPuppy welcome. Terra Prime was so good I consider it the finale.I came up with my own stories too of what I wanted to see happen with Trip & T'Pol. Thank goodness for fanfiction and the new Books in the Enterprise Relaunch. The Good that Men do the finale is rewritten Trip is alive and the story is so much better than what we saw in that holodeck scenario. It's written by Andy mangels, and Micheal A. Martin. It's got some nice scenes with Trip & T'Pol in the book.A great book all the characters get storylines and better treatment in the book. And a great story to continue the Relaunch in Kobayashi maru

Welcome to the board and to the T/T thread poundpuppy29. :) I love your screen name. :)

Yeah, a lot of us didn't like the last episode much, but there are still a lot of great T/T moments that we did have.

Are you new to the show too?

No I watched it live but I never went on boards until now. I was a casual Trekkie but I started watching Stargate in syndication kast year and discovered some stargate forums and became very involved in them. So I decided to find some Trek boards cuz I liked Trek too. I watched ENT religiously never missed an ep. I was also a big fan of TNG so that's why I was so angry about what they did to ENT in the final ep. I was never a big Riker & Deanna shipper I thought she was too good for him they made him too much of a Kirk for me. T&T I loved loved they were a perfect match. I only know about Shipping cuz of Stargate I am a multi shipper in that fandom. I also learned about Shipper Wars there too. Are there alot of Anti shippers of T&T is that why TPTB killed Trip and had him and T'Pol break up like that when T'Pol said she was going taking some time to herself? I was screaming at the T.V. set you are free now get the man you really want the one you love. I guess I was a passionate shipper but casual Trek Fan.
