Trek's lowest moment

And speaking of cartoon stupidity there was an episode of The Simpsons banned in Australia because Bart was walking around showing his bum. Cited as "child porn"

It was the politicians that did that.

Really? I don't remember that. I do remember that the "monorail" episode was taken out of the schedule without warning when Sydney was considering one of those white elephants. Which we now have, and which is just as useless as the episode pointed out. Now apparently "light rail" (trams/street cars/trolleycars) is the answer. They're like buses, except they have a bigger carbon footprint and can't go around obstacles - awesome! The Simpsons should do an episode about that.

You have to love town planners.

When Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson raised an eyebrow on Voyager, I facepalmed.
I can't help but wonder if you also "face-palmed" when Leonard Nimoy frequent did the exact same thing?
Probably not, seeing as Nimoy did the "exact same thing" as a character quirk.

The Rock, meanwhile, did the exact same thing for his wrestling persona first, and then (whether by request or by choice) just did the exact same thing when performing as a Voyager guest star. Just goes with the criticisms of the episode being more intended as a crosspromotion for UPN's airing of wrestling.

Since the episode was about cage matches I didn't really mind the Rock's cameo there... although it was slightly cringeworthy. I think he's a good actor but the recent news of him in a Big Trouble remake... also cringeworthy.

Martok2112's Law (more like a guideline...aarrgghh) of Storytelling:
"Logic and physics will always go out the window for the needs of dramatic storytelling."

This includes consistency of tech and how the needs of dramatic storytelling affect their function. The very tech that may save someone's life one week could be the same tech that destroys an entire away team the next.

In the end, it's all just a show, a movie, a story.

Hey are you the same Martok from the trek yahoo group?

That group has just died. What happened?

But Nimoy did the eyebrow thing on other shows and TV movies, it really looks very different when he's smiling (Nimoy had a great smile).

And to be fair, when Johnson was wrestling he was playing a character.

Hi, Coco Pops,

No, I wasn't a part of any Trek Yahoo group. :)

The only other Trek board I used to belong to was the official Trek 2009/Into Darkness board that went down not too long ago.

Oh ok my mistake we had a Martok there too ....

It used to be a really busy group and very active but it just went "poof" and died without explanation.

Lots of Yahoo groups do.
After a while, they get overrun with jackasses trying to spam their porn sites, even with all the screening in place for prospective new members.

That's just one reason I'm aware of.

There may be many Martoks out there... but none match the sheer awesomeness of the number one anti-fan, Martok2112! :D

What, no one's mentioned "Code of Honor" yet?

We had been pretty successful at erasing it from ir memories until you posted. Thanks a lot. :wtf:

(:techman:)

I only read some pages and saw a number I thought of covered, but here are some ones I didn't see:

"Datalore"
Beam out something large, like a tree to destroy it to show their might. Who the fuck approved this in the final script?

"Star Trek: Nemesis"
All of it. But one scene in particular: the close up on Troi's face where everything is darkened and there's a light put on her eyes for dramatic effect. WTF?

"Q Who?"
Didn't Guinan hiss at Q?

(forgotten TNG episode name)
Don't tell Wesley he has special abilities. Someone still needs to be flogged for this Godawful idea.

That's actually quite a standard cinematographic device, though not used so much these days. I think it was used a fair bit in TOS.
