Trekkies - Where Are They Now?

Maybe I used the wrong wording. I was unaware of how much people were/are into Star Trek. And no, not considering those kind of breaks I have a Janeway figure, that's enough for me.

It's unfortunate that Abrams didn't hire someone like Gabriel Koerner to design the reboot Enterprise. I thought Gabriel Koerner's Enterprise was a great update on the classic TOS version, and looked a lot better than what we ended up with. Except for the deflector dish, that is. Abramsprise got that right, though.

But it's very interesting because it's international.

As I recall you don't see the spinerfemme again. There is some creepy ass stuff about her on the internet.. and yeah who knows. I would like to know where is she now.

I hope for her sake her obsession has lessened some.

She, along with Gabriel, the dentist, the commander woman, and the guy dressed as a woman were the most memorable for me.

I got tattoo girl's autograph! I went to a little con in Sydney (the only one I've ever been to) and happened to have the Trekkies 2 DVD in my bag, as I had lent it to a friend. This is the only autograph I've ever asked for, and I am awfully proud of it

But it's very interesting because it's international.

Word was that Trekkies 3 would go into Asia, but sadly there's been no word on this for years.
I'm interested to see if the Japanese are as fanatical about Trek as they can be about everything else.

Well I haven't done anything near the level of the folks in "Trekkies" yet...but I'm working up to it! Honestly, I admire those really dedicated fans because of their passion for what they love. Seems damn impressive to me

Well I have done anything near the level of the folks in "Trekkies" yet...but I'm working up to it! Honestly, I admire those really dedicated fans because of their passion for what they love. Seems damn impressive to me

My Friend, there is NOTHING like taking in the Vista of your first Con or Gathering, complete with Stars and costumes and weaponry and make-up and attitude. You are only limited by your commitment and your level.

But none of that compares to the tales and tidbits, the guesses and the opinions, the loving and caring you will experience with TrekBBS.

Here are a couple of comments provided by 'spinerfemme' - one from what looks to be an early screening where she seems to be quite happy with her appearance in the film. The second is an attempt to distance herself from the production, stating that everything shown of her was taken out of context. I would imagine the truth is somewhere in the middle. Initially, she was happy to be part of the film, but as the critics, having a field day, made more and more fun out of the people interviewed, she no longer wanted to be associated with it. I have no doubt that there were miles of film/video taken and just the choicest bits were used, but I also think that when it was being filmed and being initially viewed, she didn't have any inclination that she, and others, were going to be ridiculed to the extent they were.

I must say I am excited to go to a Con eventually. Truthfully I am quite new to Star Trek fandom and have a lot to learn. I just can't wait to learn it all though. Everyday I watch episodes I haven't seen -yeah I'm only in the 5th season of TNG so I have much more to go- and I come on here everyday to learn new things about the shows production and lore. I love it all. Also thanks for the welcome HIjol it's good to be here.

Interesting tidbits. Though I will say that she knew the filmmakers would probably put in her most "eccentric" comments, so before filming even began she could have made a mental note to tone it down a bit. The only thing that really made me think she was crazy was mentioning her "Brent breaks". Other than that she just seemed like a big fan.

All she has to do is move her eyebrows to convey an emotion. Now that's talent! Great article too.

I look at the figure because I can't believe it was made in 1998, it's discontinued, and I have it!

This is the top link on Duck Duck Go for "Christopher Pike Chair Rich Kronfield".

Kronfield was a near-legendary comedian on Minneapolis public access TV in the day, that's how I first met him, and I thought it was a little odd including him in Trekkies if only because he was doing a bit and wasn't a real person. His calling-card was the character "Dr. Sphincter," a super-uptight office type who was always getting into Andy Kaufman-esque misadventures. If you've ever seen Tim & Eric, you get the idea.

Kronfield was connected with Trekkies director Roger Nygard through Minnesota, Nygard had acted as a sort of unofficial LA agent for MST3k when Hodgson was shopping it to cable channels back in the KTMA days.
