TrekBBS Fantasy Baseball League!

Works for me as a date and time, but the first game of the season is on March 25th, so you're not exactly leaving much time to sort out the rosters or make a trade. If it works for everyone, or most everyone, though, we'll just have to work fast and get our shit in order. On the plus side, you'll have instant results as to whether you had a good draft or not...

While there is a game on 25th it is in Japan and then a game on the 29th and the real opening day for other teams is March 31st. So still have time to get teams in order for the real start of the season.

true, unless you have players on the A's (why would you?) or the Red Sox. They will have both played 2 regular season games before that date. In Japan, yes, but they still count, and will likely be considered the official start of the season for the fantasy week (week plus, in this case) ;)

Like I said, that date works for me, just pointing out a part of the plan we'll have to be aware of, and careful with...

Trying to make it work for EMH and PEG to make it to the ESPN draft.

A few options- March 14th, March 21st, 22nd, or 23rd.

Also still only have 7 in AL yahoo.

Sportskid - I can't do the Fridays unless we start really, really late (like 10EST). I've got an internship that I'm doing on Friday afternoons.

out of those, only one i can even possibly make is the 23rd, and that's a tough one. Friday nights and the weekends are just tough, really needs to be during the week. 18th and 20th are no good, as we've got the yahoo draft one night, and i've got another draft the other one...

Hey Scout,
I figure you're going to keep ARod, HanRam, Josh Beckett and Carmona. Who else are you keeping, Pena, Martinez, Saito or someone else?

Depends, have something to offer me? Shoot me a PM if you wanna talk about it. I'm sure most of my list is fairly obvious, but would like to avoid posting the whole thing and eliminating any doubt.

Which team are you?

At this point, I'm fairly locked in with which 6 players I'm keeping, but if you have an offer that takes a person off of my list, plus a person outside my list of 6, and replaces him with one better player, I'm definitely willing to talk it out and see if we can match up somewhere...

I'm Deus Ex Machina - the team who was breathing right down the back of your neck last year (only 2.5 Games behind you) - I had the 2nd best record overall and crapped out in the playoffs to finish 4th overall - so, I'm not really looking for a trade, I'm just interested in checking out who I have to beat this year... ;)

eh, you were only that close because I had the biggest statistical collapse in the 2nd half of any team playing. ;)

And if you're not talking trade, you'll find out my keepers when the draft starts rolling :p There's several obvious candidates, and a couple I'm still tossing around in my mind, so that 6th spot could still be a gametime decision...

That's a different stance than you were taking in your previous post. Hmmm, interesting. Am I sensing some uneasiness coming from you about your team? Hmmmm... :D

 not at all.

How nervous should I really be? ARod and HanRam are the concensus #1 and #2 picks overall, and I've got both of them. Sizemore ranks as a late 1st/early 2nd rounder, and he's with me as well. Then just stuck with shitty players like Victor Martinez and Josh Beckett. 6th pick could be Pena, Carmona, Saito, even Konerko wouldn't be a bad choice. And that's got me 5-6 players that I'm dropping that I KNOW are going to be studs this year.

Yeah, I'm nervous and uneasy about my team :guffaw:

Always willing to look at making the team even MORE loaded, but I'm certainly not worried in the slightest about going to war with the guys I've got...

Of those listed, the 23rd works the best for me. I might be able to do the 21st, but the 14th and the 22nd are out.

23rd (Sunday night) would be alright, would just be better if it started a little earlier if we're going to do a Sunday night. 8pm EST work for most people? Anything much later than that, and we're up until midnight screwing with the draft (and then the 30 minutes of reviewing the team, 2nd guessing, checking out the FAs, etc).

Sounds like a classic case of overconfindence - ripe pickings for a downfall! I look forward to being the team to do it too... ;)

I could move it up a day, I just had to pick a day and did 24th since we talked about it. But the 23rd would work as well.

Don't mean to give you a big head, but looking at your roster, you've got the potential for a helluva team right now. We haven't even done the draft, and I'm already thinking I need to put a voodoo hex on you. So as my ex-business partner would say, "Hommina Hemmina Hommina Hey!" (or something like that- we never did pay much attention to each other).

Regarding the ESPN draft: If everyone else's good with that date, it works for me.

yeah, when I'm in position that I can drop a guy that hit 45 HRs last year, I'm not too worried about RygelXIX trying to talk smack. the WORST player I'm keeping won 19 games with a ERA around 3 in the AL and is young, so how hard up am I, really?

RygelXIX has to waste too many keeper spots on pitching, anyway, so he could struggle a bit this year. And even with having to use 4 spots on pitchers, I'd bet he'd still be better off with my pair of Beckett and Carmona ;)

I am so looking forward to this year - it's obvious that Scout has the favoured list of keepers (let's all give thanks we're ONLY keeping 6 or else we'd be in real trouble) - I'm feeling fairly good with my guys - given a good draft (and a couple injuries), we'll see...
