I'm looking forward to the season but I'm wondering what position I should go after in the first round. I was thinking Pitcher, but then it's like the NFL and people start asking, why did you take a defensemen that early. I hope it's a good draft in a month.

It's your call, but except for the really good ones (Santana, possibly Peavy), pitchers aren't usually drafted in the first few rounds. Most teams go for the best hitters (regardless of position) first.

That makes sense since you want a strong line-up of players who play every day. Pitchers are only once every 5 days.

I voted, but have since changed my mind. The draft time as currently planned (March 15th, 9:30EST) is bad, though, and I can't imagine I'm the only one. That's the Saturday night of St. Patty's day, and I've already made plans to go out. Would prefer something mid-week (Wednesday the 18th seems to mesh with what everyone said on the ESPN thread). 9pm EST would probably be alright, not TOO late for the east coast folks, and still ok for the one guy on the west coast.

9pm on a Saturday night is just bad. prevents you from doing anything for the weekend, and even if you aren't going out that night, means you pretty much can't make any other plans for the weekend, as you have to be by your computer in the middle of it all. We should just go with a weeknight, and Wednesday would be perfect...

I voted that the 15th would work the best (since I saw it was set for 9:30). All that really matters though is that it's done in the evening (kids in bed), so 9:00 EST would be fine for me any day of the week...

Amazing how sitting for 2 days on a frozen lake (with no electricity or running water) can alter your thoughts.

Edited to add: As far as the ESPN draft goes, I voted quite a while ago, but it looks like my option doesn't stand a chance. I can't do the 15th, 17th, 18th or 20th, but I don't expect the rest of you to bend to my needs. Pick what works, and if I can't be there, I'll put my faith in autodraft. One way or another, it's no more bottom of the barrel for me!!

Of course that might be a good thing because it's the time everyone complains about their draft and no one knows how their team is going to be. Still, I really wish I hadn't played the guy who came in second (I think) in the first week.

Yep, I took 2nd last year. My guys chose to have ONE bad week, and of course it was the finals. Coaster and I played "fantasy fantasy baseball" comparing stats during the earlier weeks of the playoffs, and my team would have beat him every week except that one. Gives me room to improve, i suppose.

And Tomalak, it should be a little harder to complain about the draft this year, seeing as how I've already made my first 6 picks, and they're fantastic

For ESPN how does a draft date of March 24th at 9 or 9:30 EST work?

Works for me as a date and time, but the first game of the season is on March 25th, so you're not exactly leaving much time to sort out the rosters or make a trade. If it works for everyone, or most everyone, though, we'll just have to work fast and get our shit in order. On the plus side, you'll have instant results as to whether you had a good draft or not...
