TrekBBS Fantasy Baseball League!

I'm kind of surprised I didn't keep Justin Morneau on my team. I know I was a little down on him last year, but I could have sworn I still put him in the keeper pile.

Our keeper deadline for our espn league is March 12th I believe. So he should be on your team.

Strange when it came back up today I had to reactivate the league again after I did yesterday.

Just jumped into the Yahoo league, was in it a few years back, but missed the last couple years.

I'm a front office executive for a minor league team in the Texas League, which is a bit of a losing scenario when it comes to fantasy baseball. We work all the games, and it's our busy season obviously, but I keep my teams updated and it's a hell of alot of fun.

Lets go cards! Redbirds are ascending, can I get a war anthony reyes! eh, didnt think so.

I'm Niner4pot, get your trek on

Ah, I thought that what I was describing was how it was left, but didn't remember completely. Either way, that would be my vote, at least. It eliminates intentional tanking from the bottom 6, provides NO incentive for the #6 team to try and slip down to #7 and play for the first overall pick, and rearranges the 6 from the winner's bracket into how well they performed in the playoffs.

At least, makes sense to me, and seems to solve that problem about teams quitting at the end of the year, or not playing the consolation rounds, etc.

Sorta, there was no hard decision, and I will post more information for people in my thread in the ESPN league. On another note, important for people in the ESPN league to vote on what draft date they want over at our league page.

I voted for March 15.

And I've also picked my keepers. Looking forward to the season!

Oh, and EMH? Looked over your roster, and ouch. You've got some serious work to do. On the plus side, dumping most of them and redrafting ought to instantly improve the roster... :)
See? I told you! :p

As of right now, I have Chipper Jones and Placido Polanco set as my keepers. I might keep Ben Sheets or Ian Snell, too, but I haven't decided.

yeah, definitely a work in progress. Can't argue with your choices, though, those are decent enough names to start with...

I can't seem to change any of my keepers. In fact, I can't even find the button to do that. It was there last fall, but I'll be damned if I can find it now. Either we have to wait until things are set up, or I'm even more of an idiot than you people already think I am.

Also, March 15th will definitely not work for me. That's the Spring Fling/St. Patrick's Day bash at my local ski area, and I can't miss that.

Edit to add: Never mind- After rebooting, I found the keeper page.

agree that the saturday night before St. Patty's day isn't going to work as a draft day. i'll definitelyb e out, as I imagine a bunch of other people will be. maybe that Sunday afternoon or early evening instead?

I think ESPN lost their keeper preffs or something... I know I had set 1 or 2 players as keeperes before the end of last season, but when I logged in again those settings were gone. I had to re-select my keepers.

Hate to give advice that helps my opponents, but you've listed your keepers twice now, and neither time did you put Hafner on the list. You need to keep him, he didn't have the best year last year, but is definitely worth a top 6 round pick, especially with the roster you have...

Yeah...I was really frustrated with him last year. At least Chipper (when not hurt) and Polanco were more consistent than Hafner. I'll think about it. Can we change the keepers right up to the draft?

I think sportzkid said we have until March 12th to select our keepers.

As far as Hafner goes, I'd keep him. I had him in the Yahoo league last year and although he started off slow (and was out quite a bit with injuries), he came around in the second half of the season.

something like the 12th, yeah. gives you a little time to check out spring training and such. On the other hand, if you're considering keeping them, they're probably good and established, so spring training doesn't matter, and you just know who to take.

EMH, keep Hafner. You'd be making a big mistake if you didn't. For example, his projected draft position in ESPN is #38. In a 12-team league, that's early 4th round, maybe late 3rd depending on needs. It would be foolish if you toss him back, basically saying he's not worth a 6th round pick. It's unlikely people will toss anyone BETTER than him back into the pool anyway, so you'd be looking at him as the best available player when you went to pick, anyway...

On a slightly different note, I just finished the first ESPN Keeper League offseason trade, so pretty happy with that. Still leaves me with 4-5 keepers, and just one spot left to keep one of them. If anyone has a true ace they might consider trading, drop me a line. Trying to see if I can turn Carmona + parts of your choice into something like a Verlander or a Peavy-type player. Sure, probably not much difference between a 19 game winner and a 20-game winner (better supporting stats, maybe?), but I've got enough appealing spare parts that Carmona + one of those guys (or more, knock yourself out) might make sense for a team, so it's worth a shot...

For the right price, I might be willing to part with either C.C. Sabathia or Brandon Webb. As you can see from my roster, I have a bit of a deficit when it comes to offensive power.

I looked it over, but I had to decline. Maybe he's not worth as much as I think he is, but I'd need a lot more for Brandon Webb.

I'm starting to think I shoud just hang onto my pitchers and hope I can upgrade offensively through the draft.
