Damn - I should have known I'd be playing Rygel in his minor league digs. Is that the stadium that had "Stripper Pole 7th Inning Stretch Night" last year?
There are situations where you might want to bench a starter later in the season - even a great one, if he's struggling. At this point in the season, however, you just need to ride 'em. Unless a bad outing might cost you several categories on the final day of a fantasy series, you just throw him out there and cross your fingers.
I benched a few guys last year that were great starters because of slumps, but with my pitching staff, I could afford to blow off a start or two. You never want to panic, but you don't want to wait forever for a guy to get going. A top pitcher like Sabathia is somebody you have to roll with until he recovers or just completely blows up.
I have a general fantasy question for you all. If you have a pitcher or pitchers who have really struggled to start the season, would you bench him on the very next start? I ask because I'm thinking about sitting Sabathia and Verlander this week. I'm not sure if that is a stupid thing to do or not.
