TrekBBS Fantasy Baseball League!

Looks like the Tom Glavine deal is paying off so far. Great outing tonight, 3 hits, 3 walks, and no runs in 6.1 innings. The only reason he didn't get the win was because Atlanta's relief sucks.
That 0.79 ERA sure is nice though. To bad that won't be there for long.
We'll see. We'll see.

I'll give you $5 if Glavine's ERA is even within 3 runs of 0.79 (assuming you'll reciprocate if he fails). Odds are that he'll probably be closer to 4.09 or higher. Not bad, but this isn't the mid-90s Glavine, no matter how much you like him.

Just to be clear, I don't expect him to be under 1.00 for the whole season, but I have faith he'll be around 3.oo. I'll give you $5 if he's at 5.oo at the end of the season.

Hey coaster how do you like the game Chien-Ming Wang had for me tonight! a complete game, 2 hits, no walks, 1 run.

Now just hopeful I can hold onto my lead I have against you in the ESPN keeper league.

Why the hell is CC Sabathia sucking? It's almost as if last year was a fluke. I was so close to sitting him tonight and missing the start but I decided not to. I should have because I got creamed in that tonight. I might sit Verlander tomorrow. Of course then he might have a complete game, but this isn't good.

Yeah, I'm starting to regret keeping Sabathia in the ESPN league. He was supposed to be my star pitcher, but he's been just as bad as the rest of my pitching staff.

I drafted him in I think it was either the 3rd or 4th round thinking that he was going to be consistant. You don't have a cy-young year and not have the stats to back it up. They even showed his ERA and walk percentage during the game and compared it to this year. I hope he improves but it's hard to justify playing him in a head to head league where wins and ERA are really important.

Today is the first day without Yahoo's Stat Tracker (for us cheap bastards). That's the one thing I really like about ESPN's set up: stat tracking against the other team is free and simple (as in not relying heavily on flash).

Wish ESPN would show your daily stats on the team page, though. You can set the ROSTER for the day, but it shows the 2008 stats, or monthly, or whatnot. Yahoo's interface shows the daily stats, which is nice. To get ESPN to do it, you have to go into the matchup, and then switch to today's stats...

Not going to pay for Yahoo, though. Just don't care that much. Would rather just check in the morning and be suprised. SHare a bunch of players with my ESPN team anyway, so I'll have a rough idea already.

Mmm...as a fantasy owner, Wang's game did nothing for me (or against me). I faced him and still won all five pitching categories. So fantasy-wise, Wang's game meant about as much to me as little Billy's tee-ball performance from down the street. As a Red Sox fan, however, I found it quite annoying!

Shame you couldn't hold that lead though. ;) My offense couldn't have been any more hideous.

Hey, Emh. Remember when I warned you about relying on Tom Glavine?
Yesterday: 0 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, pulled hamstring.

I hate to say "I told you so," but I did.

You don't hate to say it, not at all :p

Heh, heh.
Damn it, you're right. I just ended up being right sooner than even I imagined.

I was fortunate to break even fantasy-wise this week. I haven't been paying as close daily attention as I'd like, but that hasn't really been a problem so far. I faced Rygel last week in Yahoo, now I have to face him in ESPN this week. It's like he's on the schedule every damn week!

Yeah, I'm not going to pay for it either. If I really want to see how the match is fairing during the day, I compare stats between the two team pages. Only the averages I won't know exactly (unless I go game by game).

He'll be back. I swear it.

Fortunately, he didn't hurt me yesterday and still managed to wipe the floor with Captain Ice.

I have a general fantasy question for you all. If you have a pitcher or pitchers who have really struggled to start the season, would you bench him on the very next start? I ask because I'm thinking about sitting Sabathia and Verlander this week. I'm not sure if that is a stupid thing to do or not.

yes, that would be a stupid thing to do. At this point, you've gotta ride it out and see what happens. Too much invested in them to quit on them. Or, send me a trade offer...

You can never tell what's going to happen, either during the game or just before. For instance, yesterday I had two pitchers facing off each other, Erik Bedard and Joe Saunders, and I decided to bench the weaker of the two, Saunders (he was also facing two of my biggest bats). But then Bedard was scratched from the roster at the last second and Saunders had a strong outing.

I have to make a confession.

I buried a Ken Walter Fan Club #1 foam finger under Deus Ex Machina's stadium.

:guffaw:

That's ok. It's currently being excavated and a lawsuit is pending...

Although, this might work out for us, as we've now been forced to delay the construction of our stadium and will have to play the next week's worth of games (all against the Amish Assassins) into our minor league ballpark, which just happens to be 260 ft down the left and right field lines (only 370 ft to straightaway centerfield) -- cha-ching! More homeruns for DEM this week and a victory over the reigning champs!

Thanks Coaster:techman:

And the Ken Walter Fan Club doesn't even HAVE a stadium. The fans travel well, and the team much prefers coming into OTHER fans' stadiums and beating the stuffing out of the home team. It's more personal and demoralizing that way
