TrekBBS Fantasy Baseball League!

Hey, I just realized that the draft falls on Easter Sunday! Anyone else have problems with this?

The draft is pretty much locked in place, unless some one else does the leg work to find a new acceptable date, since we went through about ten or so days before going with this one.

that's hilarious that none of us realized it until just now. Either way, I'm not going anywhere for Easter, so I'll be all set for the draft as scheduled...

I'll just have to make sure Easter supper is in the same room as the computer. I can picture it now, the whole family gathered together in the den, eating the easter ham:guffaw:

#$^%)#! Just got off the phone with my wife and it appears we are going to the in-laws (who have no f'in internet connection) for Easter Sunday dinner. It looks like that day is totally off for me then. If we can't move the draft, it looks like I'll have to do it by autodraft. @#$@*#^!!!!!:klingon::scream:

I wish I would've remembered to look over my keeper list again before the deadline passed: I was pretty iffy about one of the players and was thinking of bouncing him from my list. Oh well, too late now.

I totally spaced out about Easter being on the 23rd. I should still be able to make the draft, though.

Maybe it's good that you missed the deadline, Pegs, can't really argue with your list. Maybe I wouldn't have kept Chris Young, if that's who you were considering, but the rest are solid, and he's not bad...

I realized it was Easter last week, but figured that we'd gone round and round enough on the date that there weren't a whole lot of better options. Since Easter is really no more important to me than Secretary Day, it doesn't really bother me. I'd happily switch if we had a definitive better option, but we covered so many alternatives where it didn't work for people and nobody seemed to object to that time and date.

If you have to autodraft, just be really good at ranking your players. You can usually drop players you really don't want at all either off your list or so far down, they won't get picked. If you set it up right, you'll at least get yourself a decent chance of coming up with an acceptable draft. That or maybe just risk pissing off the SO for a week and draft anyway. ;)

Wish I could have kept 8-10 players, but I'll just have to draft well and make the right moves in season. I was a bit surprised that there were four closers kept in the top 70 players.

Yay, change of plans! I was able to talk my wife into inviting everyone over for dinner on Easter Sunday! Now I'll be able to run up and down the stairs a dozen times to make my picks. Definately worth the extra house work/dishes, etc. Sacrifices, sacrifices...;)

Don't even get me started! If we were doing a 'dynasty' league instead, and could keep as many as I wanted, I'd have only dropped 4-5 guys max.

Edit: I counted again, and I'd drop 3 people. All pitchers that I tossed together last season. I'm good to go with my lineup, just gotta toss out Floyd, Hennessey, and Colon. And Colon might have some value yet, so who knows? I'd get one pick in the draft because I made a 2-1 keeper deal, but other than that, nada. Actually, I'd have probably kept Dan Haren and Aaron Rowand if there wasn't a cap on # of keepers :)

Now there's dedication!

Excellent news, Digits. Well worth the sacrifice. Would you like us to call your cell phone every time your team moves to the on-deck circle to pick? ;)

 Nah, I'll just sprint up and down the stairs a couple hundred times. I need the exercise anyways. Either that, or I move the computer down into the kitchen beside the stove...

Digits?:vulcan:

maybe my family does it wrong, but we always have Easter dinner earlier in the day, like 3pm or so. Bump up dinner plans a little?

It'll work perfectly. We'll plan dinner for 5, eat until 5:30, dishes until 6:00, visit with family until 6:30, put kids in bed by 6:45 and then I've got it made!

good to hear. I was going to cheer for those that had to autodraft, but I'm thinking it's probably better for me if everyone, or almost everyone, is here. Autodraft will just take the best players left, whereas actual people can overthink it and make bad choices :)

Looking forward to Tuesday's Draft. I hope I get one of the end spots because it's so nice to have the double pick advantage.

Heh - sorry, Rygel. I had traded a few posts with Digits in another thread and wasn't paying attention that the players changed along with the thread. :p

Well, of course, the Easter time draft doesn't work for me - it's right in the middle of Easter dinner (that's what I get for being a west coaster).

But, that's okay. I've got the next week to set up my autodraft, and I'll make sure I'm set to draft wisely.

I expect to be there for the live draft in the Yahoo! AL league!

That is what I was trying to say above when talking about how we got to the easter date... lol

Also still only 8 teams in the AL league!

When is that AL draft supposed to be? If you had 9 and needed a 10th, I might do it anyway, but only if I could make the draft. I wouldn't want to half-ass it, though with two other leagues, there may be a certain amount of that anyway.
