Trek guest actors in maybe surprising roles

I just caught a Get Smart with Vic Tayback all bearded-and-turbaned up as an Arabian Kaos agent. There was a belly dancer, but it wasn't Tanya Lemani. :(

H&I is now running episodes of a 1960s Tarzan TV series that I never knew existed. This morning's two-parter from 1966 includes a very familiar face among its guest actors: Nichelle Nichols.

During the 1967-68 season, Tarzan was Star Trek's lead-in on NBC. Despite ranking 27th in the Nielens in the same time slot the year before, Tarzan tanked, and was cancelled.

And, of course, Ely went on to star in DOC SAVAGE, MAN OF BRONZE, which also tanked . . . big time.

(Even though I still love the theme song.)

My brother commented once that DOC SAVAGE could have been Indiana Jones before Indiana Jones, if it had been successful. That silly, cheesy act III is what killed it, to me. I read the novel, and there was nothing silly about it in print. I blame studio interference, myself.

Get Smart, season 2, "Pussycats Galore" - they needed disguise expert Charlie Watkins again, to infiltrate the Chaos-operated Pussycat Club. Here's his disguise for this assignment:
