Paul Carr was the Deputy Sheriff who Richard Kimble holds a gun on while he escapes from jail after a kindly well wisher slipped him the keys to the cell! He lives!!!

Caught him in a Mod Squad last week, "Put Out the Welcome Mat for Death!" - I guess he does qualify as a TOS guest from the movies.

 

Normally I wouldn't but since he did appear with the original team I suppose it's correct! Strange that he never appeared in an episode at the time as he was in The Invaders in 1967!

I think I have a shot of Sherry in that ep somewhere back in the depths of this thread.

 

Checking back I nabbed her in two different eps:

 

I suspected that Tige Andrews (Bob the Discount Klingon/Sgt. Adam Greer) wore some kind of hairpiece and here he is a natural (sp) on the current episode of 'C.H.I.P.s'. Took me a moment, but once he started speaking, I knew it was him.

Jud Taylor in Glass Tightrope, an episode of The Fugitive! Plus Leslie Nielsen appeared as well in the episode! Now you may ask what has Mr.Nielsen got to do with Trek well apparently after he saw The Man Trap in 1966 he rang the production office up to offer them his praise!!!

Where did you read that? I recall many years later Nielsen stated that he didn't want to guest star on Star Trek because he already did the same thing in Forbidden Planet.

Shatner and Nielsen were both Canadians who started as serious leading men got into self-parodying comedy later in their careers.

 

And in both cases, it was the Airplane! movies that started them out on the parodic path. The same thing happened to a lesser extent with Lloyd Bridges and Peter Graves. It's ironic that those movies cast them because of their prior reputations as serious dramatic actors, yet as a result they gained new reputations as comedy actors.

 

That's the thing that makes the film funny!!! I wonder if they could have got Laurence Olivier eventually?

By the late 70s, Olivier was 'slumming it' in movies like the Langella Dracula and The Betsy.

Besides Airplane 2, a year earlier Shatner was the guest on the ABC Saturday Night Live comedy sketch and music knockoff Fridays. I can't locate any clips online, unfortunately.

 

And A Little Romance, the film that introduced the world to Diane Lane.

 

Got the new Jonny Quest Blu-Ray edition. In the closing titles of episode one I noticed Vic Perrin's name as a voice actor!
