Trek 4 to bring together Chris Pine & Hemsworth?

Actually, it does sound like Matt Damon is somewhat of a fan. When the reboot were first being produced, he actually rang JJ (or the studio) and said he would be interested to read as James Kirk only to be politely told he was a bit too old.
I like Pine, but my god that was a stupid decision.

Well, except that's not what Damon said - he talked to Abrams at one point about the movie, but never said that he'd be interested.

that was an internet rumor. In fact I saw William Shatner commented on it which I thought was great. He said "I think he would make a good Captain Kirk" which I thought was really cool. But now, in fact I know that JJ is directing it and I talked to JJ and said "what is the deal" and he’s like "no, the Kirk in my movie is much younger, it’s like the early years." So I think he is hiring probably like a 20 year old actor or something. So no it’s just an internet rumor.

If ST4 introduces a form of "Yesterday's Enterprise" writ large - where George Kirk and the Kelvin are flung forward in time to the 2260's and must be sent back to put things right - I admit I'd like to see this. I think they could make it work without it being a farce. If it worked for TNG, it can work here.

I hope they do that. using YE as inspiration but obviously shaking it up abit (like TMP with The Changeling, TFF with Way to Eden etc)

And I love the idea of Robert Downey Jr. playing Q, or at least a Q. Is RDJ a Trek fan in real life?

Oh, and in my previous post, I wasn't suggesting that ST4 would eliminate the Kelvin timeline (which I have no problem with) and reset it to Prime, I meant that the Kelvin's absence from its proper time period would create a separate (dystopian) timeline which must be reset. Like the Klingon War future from "Yesterday's Enterprise".

God I hope not. I'm sick of Time Travel stories. It's Star Trek not Time Trek. Kirk needs to continue to grow, which we finally see in the Beyond. We don't have to revisit his father in every film. Besides, if Beyond and 4 do well, I'm sure Paramount will want to continue their contract with JJ and the actors.

I don't know. Time-travel has a pretty good track record when it comes to Star Trek: "City on the Edge of Forever," "Tomorrow is Yesterday," "All Our Yesterdays," "Yesteryear," "Yesterday's Enterprise," "Tapestry," "Little Green Men," "Trials and Tribble-ations," "Future's End," and, of course, THE VOYAGE HOME and FIRST CONTACT.

In fact, if you think about it, the top-grossing TOS movie and the top-grossing TNG movie both involved time travel. The new movies could do worse than take a lesson from that.

Clearly, there's gold in them there chronitons . . . :)

I don't know, but he's probably a fan of millions of $$$.
One good thing I think he'd bring to the part is more of a sense of contempt for humanity, which would make Q seem more dangerous.

I'd love to see Lucsly and Dulmur get to grips with the Kelvin timeline...
