Trek 4 to bring together Chris Pine & Hemsworth?

I really hope JJ was talking out of his arse. Contriving to bring back Pa Kirk so Jr can resolve his daddy issues is not a recipe for success.

How can they afford Hemsworth?
Beyond is not getting the hoped for numbers, due to a lack of excitement compared to the "event" of the previous two movies. I think getting big box office draws as guest stars is the way to go. If they like the franchise or the script, they'll work for a reasonable fee.

Oh god, we're going through a time warp back to the golden days of Orci's script for Star Trek 3.

God I hope not. I'm sick of Time Travel stories. It's Star Trek not Time Trek. Kirk needs to continue to grow, which we finally see in the Beyond. We don't have to revisit his father in every film. Besides, if Beyond and 4 do well, I'm sure Paramount will want to continue their contract with JJ and the actors.

^Ghostbusters isn't a very good example to use, it's a very unique case. The men vs women issues there were not going to go away because of any guest stars.

Chris Hemsworth's presence in Ghostbusters doesn't seem to be helping that out at the box office.
I don't know if he is a box office draw, or if such a thing even exists these days. I recall reading some article that said only Tom Cruise is really capable of boosting box office anymore.

I suppose maybe Matt Damon too? God, Damon in a Trek film might actually be terrific.

Can anyone think of any other mega-names to draw into our cult? :D

Robert Downey Jr. = Q

You heard it here first.

Somebody get on that!

Please no mirror universe. Please. With the exception of Mirror Mirror it is the one element of Trek that I cannot stand. I'm sure it's fun for the actors but no. Please no.

Matt Damon as Sam Kirk!

Matt Damon as Sam Kirk!

Actually, it does sound like Matt Damon is somewhat of a fan.

When the reboot were first being produced, he actually rang JJ (or the studio) and said he would be interested to read as James Kirk only to be politely told he was a bit too old.

Meaning the reboot would go back to the academy and not to TOS Season 1.

With The Martian and the Bourne Conspiracy films doing so well, it might be time to get MD in a major guest role.

If ST14 does want to distinguish itself from all other film whichever year it come out, as many have already said before, you don't need a bad guy.

Just need to crew to fight time and circumstance to save a world, or complete a mission, or learn and grow as humans.
