No, Shatner is being transphobic. Transgender people--especially those of us who do not pass--do not have the luxury of just shrugging our shoulders and "giving people the benefit of the doubt." He is using his massive platform as a celebrity to spread his bullshit that his not-being-trans-ness is somehow oppression. It's classic deflection and projection. "Blame the faggot men who wanna go into the woman's bathroom and rape your wives and daughters while dressed like fairies!" 'Cisgender' was developed to adapt to the need of the people to not go around calling 'not-trans' people 'normal' or 'regular' because cisgender people are not the norm. Shatner has either had that explained to him or is perfectly abled to Google search on these issues. That he feels THREATENED BY TRANS PEOPLE BECAUSE HE'S BEING CALLED 'CIS' is the epitome of lashing out based on thinking he is being oppressed. No sweetie, we're telling you that you're not trans and also shouldn't speak on trans issues because you're not an expert--in part because you're not trans, you're cis.
