Pretty sure the Admiral is telegraphed, as is Ash as spy. I'll be okay with both, but pleasantly surprised at a misdirect.

And yeah, Lorca doesn't exactly break up with his women, does he...?

@Kirsten Beyer used to post here on occasion in the lit section. Maybe she could be convinced to have a Q&A with us about the episode?

I'm loving that they are on a planet and that Saru, who has been underutilized, looks like he's getting some focus.

    Can't wait!

Probably the loss of the Gagarin with all hands, including a newly rescued Cornwell.

I wonder if USS Gagarin was from the same class as Lorca's USS Buran?

    ...For what reason?

I mean, we get mixed messages of "thematic" naming of ships in DSC: nothing connects a Glenn to a Discovery, say, but Glenn goes well with Crossfield.

But Gagarin and Buran? One is a person, the other AFAWK is not.

Do we know for sure that Saru is in the rest of the series? That "Time to grieve" line, coupled with Saru's VO about being afraid all his life but not in this moment... sounds like a heroic sacrifice. I expect it's probably Cornwell that Lorca's on about, but consider - if Burnham is going to get back up to XO or eventually Captain, Saru's currently in the way... now HE could replace Lorca for S2, with Burnham as his XO, but this is another way it could go down...

Lorca could also be talking about the loss of the Gagarin.

    ...So, for what reason?

It can of course be without reason, but why bring it up then? We have plenty of ship designs from the pilot, many of them apparently highly detailed. Making the Gagarin and the Buran the same is allowed but not necessitated by this. What story purpose would be served by having the two be the same?

As long as they dont start every Saru monologue with "my people were" or he's going to become the bovine Chakoteh.

I don't think they are going to kill a main cast member mid season. There are simply too few members of the main cast on Discovery (only six) and no real signs they plan on giving anyone else significant development.

Ha! That made me laugh! I always thought Chakoteh acted pretty bovine myself!

But that would make him a witch, since he'd be wooden and therefore made of wood.

We're only one more episode out, after this next one, from a two month mid-season break. This is a show that likes to rip the rug out from under its viewers (or at least imagines it does), one that is NOT necessarily going to play by long-standing rules. Here, except for Burnham herself and the TOS guest stars, everyone is a potential redshirt.

They got Lorca, Tilly and Stamets set up and launched in only one episode. Replacement crew members can be slotted in just as quickly.

I think they want you to believe Saru is going to be killed.
    But, PROMOS LIE!
