I think it's ridiculous to argue the point that people look better in their forties than they do in their twenties(again, barring exceptions related to weight, surgery, etc.)

I guess it is YMMV if you have some kind of "older women" preference thing going, but to me none of those either of you mentioned look BETTER now than when they were much younger.

It's a matter of taste, not fact, that a woman/girl that's 20 is better looking then one that's 40. There's no biology involved. Lots of men, even very young men,find a woman that's 20 girly looking, while they consider a woman that's 40 more feminine looking. Like you said, that's also a matter of ymmv.

if you buy into the whole "men and women look for partners based on criteria which make sense from an evolutionary perspective" thing, then this might be why most men prefer younger women.

I thought this discussion was about physical attractiveness? Your statement above appears to move the discussion away from physical attractiveness to desirability as a (child bearing) mate. The two are not the same. No doubt we've all run across women (or men) who we find physically attractive but not desirable as a mate. And conversely, I'm sure we've all run across those who we may feel would make great mates but you don't find physically attractive enough to make a move on.

Hookay, let's all take a breath. For a bunch of folks who keep pointing out that "it's all a matter of taste," you do appear to be trying to tell each other what to consider attractive.

Kindly dispense with all the "silly" and "ridiculous" and "absurd" and "patronizing" declarations and keep in mind that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, okay? You have different opinions. Variety makes the discussion board go 'round. Appreciate what you find attractive, and let others do so as well. It's all good.

I'm one of those who thinks Jolene is beautiful, and there are many women I consider attractive who, in my opinion, have grown more beautiful with age. To me, Jane Seymour looked far lovelier in her 40's as "Dr. Quinn" than she did at 20 as a Bond girl, though her beauty then was still breathtaking. When I am her age, if I look a tenth as good as she does now, I will be deliriously happy.

What happen to T'Pol's eyebrows in season 3 and 4. In season 1 and 2 the made up eyebrows followed her natural eyebrow line. In seasons 3 and 4 the made up eyebrows got straighter which left a portion of her natural eyebrows visible under the make up. Who made that decision I wonder.
