T'Pol

Casino Royale successfully relaunched the franchise

A matter of taste I guess. I found it even worse than the Pierce Brosnan movies, and I didn't think it could possibly get any worse! As far as I'm concerned, the Bond franchise is dead.

Seriously, though, are ENT fans that hungry to have their show more thoroughly canonized? I mean, it's canon already, isn't it?
I think it has to do with not having that crap finale being the last bit of "Enterprise" we see, not to mention we only got four seasons. If you don't want T'Pol, then have an elderly Archer standing there, or a view of the NX-01 in the Fleet Museum. I don't ask for much (and expect much less). :)

I'm so glad that obvious sarcasm isn't lost on some of you guys.

T'Pol in Star Trek...sheesh.

Then I think she ought to have a featured role - certainly Blalock would be easier to deal with than Shatner, and if the Shatner imbroglio has taught us anything it should be that Trek actors should do their encores while they're still youthful and not ridiculous.

Bring Back Blalock while she's still hot!

I don't know what show you're watching, but T'Pol was good character. Jolene Blalock portrayed a better vulcan than Nimoy did. She proved that you can be unemotional, yet sensual. She didn't display a quarter of the emotion Nimoy did. I guess if she wore loose robes, people would have taken her more seroiusly..

:guffaw: :guffaw: :guffaw:

That's a pretty good trick, since Nimoy, with his performance, set the standard of what we think a Vulcan is.

again, I say, T'pol who?

Spock and T'Pol are the only two Vulcan characters I've found interesting over the years; Blalock did an excellent job with T'Pol. Kirstie Alley's Saavik too, I guess, but the character was ruined by the recasting and subsequent wooden characterization of ST III.

Again, I say, seigezunt who?

Don't get me wrong,I love(d) Spock(Nimoy) but I think she did a better job, and people are consistantly putting her down because she looks great in a catsuit.

I would love to have T'Pol appear in ST XI, but they would have to age her better than that ENT episode (E2) did. Since Vulcans live very long, I always wondered why T'Pol was so shrivelled in that episode. She should still have been in the prime of life. Could have been expanse/trellium addiction, I suppose.

At any rate, since ENT is my favorite Trek of all, I'm all for having T'Pol in the film. :bolian:

I also think Connor Trinneer should play Lee Kelso. :D

In spit of my large dislike of ENT, I had seen them all by now and Blalock (when she wasn't phoning it in) was wonderfully subtle, a great Vulcan performance imho. I'd love to see T'Pol show up in the TOS era.

In that case they should do it, simply in order to weed out those in the audience that the franchise really does not need. Sorry, but anyone geeky enough to be that petty about the film is not on Abram's or Paramount's agenda, thankfully.

OT, personally I wouldn't be for or against seeing T'Pol in the film at all as long as it was not intrusive to the plot or cumbersome for new fans. I wouldn't want dialogue directly referencing Enterprise or fleshing out T'Pol's character history as this isn't what this movie is about and most of it's intended audience wouldn't get it. I also wouldn't want some cheesy wink-wink dialogue ala Admiral Janeway in Nemesis. If they did do it I would just want to have an old Vulcan woman called T'Pol in there somewhere either onscreen or referenced and leave the rest to the fans imaginations. Or they could just leave T'Pol behind as part of the old ST guard just as they seem to be doing with all of DS9, VOY and ENT. :)

Shit, I didn't get a copy of the agenda when it was released to the public. Can one of you guys PM it to me? Thanks!

^^ Well, any Hollywood exec in their right mind probably wouldn't pander to such OTT pettiness displayed only by a hardcore minority of the fanbase. If Abrams wanted T'Pol, Archer, Picard or anyone else in the movie and he thought that the mainstream audience would love it (which, thankfully, it doesn't seem he does ;)) he would do it, even if it did piss off a few hardcore fans on the net.

Furthermore, we all know that it simply isn't true. 3D Master would be paying to see this movie at some point regardless of whether or not T'Pol had a cameo. 99% of people on here that say they won't see this movie if x-scenario happened is lying, IMHO. :p

Of course. We will all see it. (See Plum's sig.)

Sadly, many will not pay for it, but that's a whole different issue.

I agree, but the following for "Star Trek: Enterprise" is somewhat smaller than the hard core fan base for Trek in general (not that much smaller, regardless of what the haters like to think).

As such, there's no more to be gained by including T'Pol in the movie than there is by dressing everyone up in beige velour outfits and sticking gooseneck viewers on all the bridge panels - the general audience won't recognize either and won't care.

If there were a story reason for her to be in the film, fine - but Blalock's considerably less important to Trek than, oh, William Shatner and they've managed to develop a story without him.

I'm going to need to see those numbers, Dennis.

Except for that annoying fact that we're not a minority, we're a majority. It's the reason Enterprise got cancelled, and why a majority of its initial viewers ran off.

 Star Trek fans ("fans" whatever show/franchise you might be a fan of are inherently not majorities - that's why they're called fanatics after all granted this varies in degrees as Harry Potter fans likely outnumber Trekkies) aren't a majority - and Enterprise got canceled because it couldn't pull in anything other then Trek fans who either tuned in because they liked it or wanted to come here and bash it...
