Torres

I sort of headcanon that the frizz is her real hair, and she usually straightens it.... but that goes against her childhood flashbacks in "Lineage."

Throughout the series, from Faces in season 1, to the episode mentioned above in season 7, B'elanna is shown to be self conscious of her Klingon looks, and tries to look as human as possible. She straightens her hair, plucks her eyebrows, keeps her teeth nice, never sports a boob window, etc.

She did a pretty good Klingon impression in Faces (and a pretty good human impression). I think Dawson is one of VOY's best actors--when the writers/directors allow her to show it. Most of the time though they just make her spout a few lines of stupid technobabble. What a waste of potential.

No actor in an ensemble can have the spotlight in every episode. They have to share, and take turns.

Even Seven had to share. While she may have gotten a lot of attention in her introductory season (by necessity), no one is left behind, and in the remaining seasons, each character gets their own stories, in order of prominence. Janeway gets the most, with about 5 episodes per season. Neelix or Kim the least, with only one or two per season.

B'elanna got 3 or 4 episodes per season focusing on her. She's up there with Seven and the doctor.

Quoted for 'boob window'...lol!

I can totally see them wielding samurai swords. So much so that they seem incomplete without them.

....where are their samurai swords?

B'Elanna Torres is a terrific character, and I love the relationship she had with Tom. I just watched "Lineage," and she put in such a wonderful performance. Also, she looks perfectly Klingon to me.

The autocorrect on my old phone kept renaming her Banana Torres and that'll always be my favourite memory of her.

I have always hated that rubber head they forced on Roxann Dawson. It drew too much attention to itself, rather than complimenting / working with the rest of her face. It's like this distracting facial flaw. It could've been done to both make her look Klingon AND pretty / feminine at the same time. But Michael Westmore went with this ill-advised design that looks like knife smears on buttered toast. Dawson was the most beautiful girl in the main cast and it's very disappointing that the makeup department weren't overly concerned about that, considering ...

Show really became the Janeway/7/Doc Show. Torres is the other character who deserved the most usage but writers seemed to have no idea how to write her. They kept her spiritual crisis for the week.
