I don't know how to do the grading poll. so it pure disscussion on how you thought the episode was . my self loved every bit of it. and saving every episode on my dvr. better than the children of men.

Wondering why we have to have this hidden in Doctor Who forum when its another show.

But good first episode.

^

'cause its a Doctor Who spin-off.

Same reason why ya can talk about the original movie, ten seasons of SG-1, five seasons of SGA, two seasons of SGU, the cartoon & the other movies in the Stargate forum. Its all one franchise.

Geez...

my bad that was sopposed to be the children of earth. which was fantastic but I think this series will surpass it. how about you?

Barely a spin of. And think more people would talk about it and get into this show if it wasnt hidden in here.

Stargate was different as each show was Stargate- Something

Missed first 5 mins though as i caught the second viewing on Starz.

Barely a spin of(f)...

Captain Jack Harkness was introduced on Doctor Who.

The Torchwood Institute was introduced on Doctor Who.

Jack, Gwen & Ianto have all been on Doctor Who.

Jack has returned to Doctor Who, post-Torchwood intro.

The Doctor has been mentioned (hell, the first season had his hand in a freakin' jar!!!) several times.

And ya can't spell Torchwood without usin' the same letters as Doctor Who.

Its a spin off, dude. Get over yourself.

I'll be watching it tomorrow evening on Space. @timothy it's gonna take a lot for this to "surpass" the greatness of COE, besides which Russell has stated that isn't his intention with this series.

I know that. but the first episode was just better than coe in it's self. and I knew canada got a day latter so I did'nt go into detail on the first episode.

It seems you would need Gallifreyan level technology to make Jack mortal, unless it is some strange side effect of what ever is going on.

The cinematography was wrong. Aspects clarity, something. It just felt cheap. But I suppose it's just the resources they had to work with in the states.

The Doctor and the CIA gal both looked like plastic surgery addicts.

IT'S COCKROACH!

Oh looky in the next week on, it's that lady from Dollhouse I thought was stellar oh so long ago.

Not really feeling it.

Props to Owen felt good.

I needed the old music.

Outstanding. I recorded it intending to share it with my wife, but checked the recording for quality and wound up watching the whole thing. Good story, damned good mystery, and good use of existing continuity ... hell, they're still being hunted for the 456! Loved the Owen Harper reference.

I'm intrigued by the vortex manipulator that Jack's wearing. Will there be discussions of time travel? Will the Doctor be mentioned? Or is this Americanized fourth season now distancing itself from Doctor Who?

Then of course, there's Jack's little problem and whether that will be fixed by the end of the season/series.

Just guessing here. There's supposedly an American version and a British version of Miracle Day. I am presuming that the American version will likely not mention The Doctor as Americans may not know who he is. The British version will likely contain references to The Doctor.

Then of course, there's Jack's little problem and whether that will be fixed by the end of the season/series.

We'll have to wait and see, but RTD has hinted in Doctor Who that Jack Harkness eventually becomes the Face of Boe after living for a long long long time. So chances are Jack will get his immortality restored unless RTD comes up with something to explain this contradiction.

^According to BlogtorWho the US and UK versions of the first episode or exactly the same aside from the fact there was a trailer for the second episode where as the UK gets full series trailer.

Strangely, I (USA) don't remember the next episode trailer but there was a series trailer.

Thanks Timothy, for creating a thread, I would have created on last night with a poll but i was busy. Torchwood absoloutly belongs in the section, it has been since the the show first aired. Maybe there is a bit of backlash here because it is airing in the US first. To me it does not matter everyone will see it sooner or later.

Neroon, can you pin this thread until next weeks episode? thanks

Anyways, I thought it was pretty good will watch it again today. Jack being mortal is a twist i did not see coming. Still the 'miracle' is not the same thing that Jack has since Jack regenerates and heals fast from his fatal injuries, whereas the peaple here are still just alive, even if there just a head left or whatever, no body regeneration.

I enjoyed it for the most part. When I saw what was going on I was not surprised they made Jack mortal for this, I'm intrigued for sure and curious as to what the purpose of this is. I assume some alien force or something is doing this for their own ends and I'm curious as to why. I know the Torchwood facility was destroyed, I'm curious as to how Jack was able to send out some MalWare to erase all references to Torchwood and wonder how they're related as it all apparently happened at the same time. I did like the nod to Owen Harper, it was a bit of a groan worthy moment though.
