This has been the best Doctor Who universe event - ever. Yup, I said it. I SAID IT.

Now I'm biting my nails and hoping RTD doesn't royally fuck up the finale
I know! I genuinely feel that Tennant's final episodes won't live up to Torchwood. That they will be a coming down from this high.

I'm wondering if some threads from CoE will be picked up in Doctor Who. The 456 are a brilliant villain imho, I'd love to see the Doc' take them on.

I think we can safely say it's a "them", considering how they apparently use children in some kind of symbiotic relationship. Otherwise, why would they need 12 kids? Or for that matter, 30 odd million?

First thoughts: that was intense!

You can see why they couldn't do this story on Who, we'd get the "Humans are wonderful/ I can take you somewhere else/You have a choice/I'm the Doctor, look me up" speech.

This really is more adult and much closer to how a Bad Contact Event might happen in the real world. (Note Bad Contact: WotW, Alien, Good Contact: CE3K).

More after I read everyone else's thoughts.

Maybe, or maybe it's one guy with a really bad habit!

I think it is a them, but it would be ironic if we were dealing with a single alien who we could have just shot in the head(s) while we were filming him.

Although we did have a 'He's Captain Jack, look him up,' speech (which thankfully didn't seem to impress mr. 456...)

Ianto should have followed it up with "Look up the Doctor as well, cos he gon' fuck you up if we can't. Ya big vomitin' dick."

:guffaw::lol:

"And if he doesn't scare you look up Sarah Jane Smith, or possibly sonic lipstick...quake in terror, wanker!"

Anything is better than BB:p

Usually I'd say the same, but a lot of this series of BB has been worth it. And I thought last nights show would have made it a priority for the GF.

Yeah, me too. I was halfway expecting one at the end.

I wonder how they plan to resolve this in one episode? Or won't they? And end in a post-apocalyptic world? Maybe this is what a potential season 4 will be about?

From the trailer I'm expecting an uprising against government, but not too many dramatic long term effects. Part of the show is based in it's reality, besides whatever effects TW effects the whole Whoniverse as they insist on picking 21st century companions now.

Saying that - whatever the result, I'm in the camp that hopes it's not a happy one. A loss at the end of all of this would make a far better ending than going back to (reasonably) normal.

What I couldn't help but think... how many Prime Ministers has this Whoniverse gone through in the past few years now?
1 a year I think.

I am pretty convinced that we'll get a "where the fuck is The Doctor" line in tonight's ep. I seem to remember something along those lines from the trailers? Or am I just being big spasticated fuckhole of a wrongtwat again?

Well they have mentioned the Doctor so it wouldn't surprise me.

Maybe he'll turn up at the end and tell everyone he's sorry, so sorry...

Ratings rising across the week, beating everything bar the soaps, some of the highest AI's for a Drama this year. Did we slip into an alternate universe and not notice?

***

The Ianto/Jack shippers are going as nutty as the Willow/Tara ones did though. James Moran's been getting hate mail even though he didn't write this episode!

I've been noticing weird stuff for a couple of weeks now, thought it was just me who was in an alternate universe.

We are definitely in some kind of alternate, fragmented timeline. Torchwood is GOOD, the Secret of Monkey Island comes out next week and the electorate are itching for a chance to evict the Labour government and vote in a Thatcherite wankbag.

What the fuck happened?

I dunno, but, apart from that last part, I like it.

I blame Jenson Button. :bolian:
