Too much Klingon dialogue with subtitles makes me sleepy

Also one thing that bugs me is in Star Trek, Klingon females have always been portrayed as just as aggressive and warriorlike as Klingon males, and in Discovery the only Klingon female is very submissive and fawning over a man.
I thought she had a touch of the Lady MacBeth's about her...I got the impression she may be playing the long game with him...Not sure she isn't playing him somehow...

I am enjoying the series, but the Klingon part of the episodes is... well, boring. These Klingon are just stupid animals.

How was that a good thing though? Klingon females were awful, just awful. They were just men with boobs. The idea that strong females have to reject any feminine traits in favour of masculine ones is so insulting. It was backwards in 1989 and it's backwards now.

I have no idea where Discovery is going with this, but it doesn't take much to improve on utter failure.
Your idea that an alien race should conform to the human idea of gender traits amuses me.

Oh, but they do. That's why you got a half-klingon that clearly conformed to those ideals as soon as they put a bit of effort into Worf's love life. No one would have related to a romance with someone who was the way klingon women had been presented up to that point.

But more importantly, on a metaphorical level pretty much every alien you've ever seen on every Star Trek show has been a comment on humans and human dilemmas. They're either there to challenge or to reinforce ideas. It's not like Klingons actually exist somewhere and evolved without human influence. Star Trek is a human-made show representing human ideas. You pretending that you don't get that amuses me.

Not every female who is aggressive is 'Masculinized'. People are individuals, men and women are free to have as many traditionally masculine or traditionally feminine traits as they want without being judged for their decision, especially for a fictional alien race.

And Klingons traditionally have less difference between male and female roles.

On Cardassia, science is considered a women's field and men are considered incompetent in the areas of math and science. Different alien races will naturally have different cultural norms regarding gender. No need to conform them all to human 1950s gender roles.

Am I the only one who actually liked the Grilka/Quark "romance" in DS9?

Hrrm...apparently some people liked it way more than I did.

They speak slow because of the subtitles! If they spoke at a normal conversational pace the text would flash too quickly on the screen for a lot of readers.
No. There's no such problem with the subtitles of regular shows/movies, that are just in foreign languages. They just did it wrong when making the subtitles for this show. The subtitles disappear as soon as the person said the last word. This is not how subtitles are normally done, because many people can't read it that fast. The subtitles should be left for a specific amount of time, or until new ones has to replace them, because something new is said, whichever comes first.
