Reading is not my favorite pastime. I find myself reading their text and not paying attention to their facial expressions and everything else going on. It would become a "discovery" problem if there are enough people out there with the same problem with it that I have. I bet they spoke more Klingon in that last episode than every episode of every other series and movies combined.
Probably. But subtitles are more common now for aliens and fake "foreigners" in SFF. Makes it seem more real.A bit
How was that a good thing though? Klingon females were awful, just awful. They were just men with boobs. The idea that strong females have to reject any feminine traits in favour of masculine ones is so insulting. It was backwards in 1989 and it's backwards now.
I have no idea where Discovery is going with this, but it doesn't take much to improve on utter failure.

Indeed, she's the one exception. And since she was going to be played for romance they had to make her look less like a bloodthirsty space troll by making her half human.
I keep watching Gowron saying "You will die, slowly...DURASSSSSS" on Youtube. That's how Klingon dialogue needs to be.

Mara and Azetbur were not quite as warlike.
Also, I prefer more variety rather than the same old. Glad there is no Lursa or B'eator around.
Mara never struck me as being super aggressive. Nor Valkris. Nor Azetbur.

Considering the whole show has subtitles for us foreigners, the klingon parts don't really disturb me:

I wonder how icelandic works considering that Svalbarðseyri is a town in the municipality of Svalbarðsstrandarhreppur in the Region of Norðausturkjördæmi. And I am not making that shit up.
It always annoyed me that a room full of Klingons would talk among themselves in English. So I'm really happy to see them speak Klingon for a change.
I hope that when we finally see a universal translator in use, its as seen in Star Trek Beyond where we hear the original speech overlaid with computer-voice English. That's how it should always be.

I don't mind the subtitles - just the length of all the speeches and how slow it is and all the blah blah.

Don’t mind the subtitles. I’m not a native English speaker and with my mediocre hearing almost everything I watch is subtitled. I do mind that the full face appliances and the teeth prosthetics make the actors performances and voices so cringeworthy that the Klingon scenes become unwatchable for me.
American audiences not liking subtitles is a minority view on the global stage. Lots of movies in other countries are subbed by default in theatres, especially Hollywood films; in plenty of parts of the world people speak multiple languages anyway, so subbing stuff helps out as well. In China, there are two spoken languages that share a written one, so everything there is subbed to catch them both. India, same game; and those are the two most populous nations on the planet.
I speak English natively, but my wife is a francophone so we watch lots of stuff subbed lest she miss words spoken in various European accents (we watch Doctor Who, Outlander and Game of Thrones with subtitles, for example). We also both watch a lot of anime and prefer to get the nuances of the story spoken and translated rather than translated and then spoken.

This is a big part of the problem. They go on and on about nothing. We're a quarter of the way through the season and their great concern seems totally half-baked. I like the idea of the viewer empathizing with the Klingon perspective, but, so far, I'm not.
Subtitles for David Tennant would have made Series 2-4 far more watchable. Granted, I'm american, so british -english definitely took some getting used to.
And poor David had already dropped his Scottish accent for the part! (Kinda sad he did, IMO.)
